/sign. I agree with this thread! I was sorely dissapointed that during my romances with Fenris and Anders I never got to see any nudity or even half nudity. /signs again

When I played DAO, I had never played a BioWare game before. I just loved it! I was so impressed that a game company had made an adventure game with romance that had included the nudity that went along with it. I'm sad that they caved in to the "Fox News" pressure with DA 2. I really think that if DA 3 turns out being like DA 2 in regard to romance content, I probably won't buy it.

I had an idea that they just strategically place pillows or blankets over the offending members lol.
would make a lot more sense than them wearing undies or being in bed fully clothed.
Also completely off topic but would a person who doesn't play shooter games like mass effect at all?
I am curious about it since everyone mentions it.

Because it's sooo obvious that watching like 5 seconds of people making love to eachother is sooo much more offending then watching 40 hours of dismemberment and gore  

... Seriously, I don't see the problem... An option to turn on the 'nudeness' would be perfect, as I turn off the persistent gore... I think I would wipe my face before going into an easy conversation.

The german BPjM thinks otherwise. Nude people everywhere? No problem! Blood? Gore?! THIS IS MADNESS! And don't you dare to show a swastika!

But the approach of the BPjM would still better than the american way. I would prefer to see some skin, instead of these ridiculous exploding enemies.

Agreeing with you Tobi  My post was sarcastic, in case it wasn't obvious  I had the natural bodies mod for DA:O, since the nudeness wasn't disturbing me at all, but the ridiculous underwear was making me laugh all the time  

And seriously peeps... if I would be like 'oh yes, I'm going to buy this 40+ hours game, so I can watch 5 seconds of pixel p0rn!' then please, lock me up  (Don't worry, I consider myself to be relatively sane... I loved the ME:1 scenes, cause they were both tasty and romantic)

Nothing against Varric, he's my favourite character, but this is a rather disturbing thought.

I don't know if it's true but today I've read in another forum that "The Witcher 2" will be rated "M" in America. Based on some screenshots I saw the game contains a lot of nudity, so IF it's true the ESRB might lighten up.

A part of me thinks it's a bit ridiculous but an even bigger part thinks that a switch to turn nudity on or off would probably be a good option.

Yes. I never played a shooter game before and started now with Mass Effect 1 after getting ME2 for free due to BioWare's sequal celebration. I played it on casual difficulty and I liked most parts of it. What I found endearing were the alien races, the citadel, characters and story. Not so much combat. But on the other hand I'm usually more interested in story and characters. I started with ME2 yesterday and though it's different than the first game I'm still okay with it.

Keep in mind that in the US, that the ESRB is a *voluntary* organization, not a government agency, much like the MPAA and the RIAA are for music and movies separately. The problem is that most mainline stores and vendors have agreements with the ESRB, so unrated games aren't usually stocked and sold in the largest stores: WalMart, BestBuy, Amazon.com and whatnot. Refusing to "voluntarily comply" with the rating system is pretty much a death warrant for any non-indie game. Not to say that it isn't done elsewhere, but a mainline studio like Bioware is going to comply with ESRB guidelines.

Bioware isn't about to shoot itself in the foot to "take a stand" against protestors who aren't even going to buy the game in the first place.  Sometimes you have to sell things and be commercially viable, especially in the massive US gaming market.

I'm an American and honestly? I don't really know but I'll try my best.

The problem is that parents buy these games for their kids because their kids throw tantrums in the middle of the store. Instead of actually being a parent and telling their kids to shut the **** up and that they won't get the game, they go ahead and get it. They purchase the game without even thinking what it might contain. There's a reason the ESRB exists. It's so parents will actually look at what it contains. But nope, America is based around wasting money and laziness. America, for the most part, is filled to the brim with idiots. Only maybe 1% of the population in America consists of intelligent people (I'm half-expecting that by the time I'm done and I hit submit, I'll have made some grammar mistakes and will have made myself look like an idiot. So please don't hold that against me if it happens.)

Then when their kids start cursing or say they want to have sex with some hookers, they immediately go "Where did you see these things?!"

"I saw it in the game you bought me. Thanks again mommy for buying it."

Instead of the parent saying "**** I screwed up" and actually taking the game back to return it, they form some sort of group intent on banning the game from videogame stores. And if someone points out the flaws in their reasoning, well **** will hit the fan.

Newsflash ******, you're the parent. You're supposed to control what games your kid gets. This isn't supposed to be exposed to your children. It's for the mature audience only. The ones who are able to handle this. Hence the rating of M. Next time, stop using the television as a cheap way to babysit your kids while you take a nap or talk for 5 hours with your neighbor about how Mrs. Bransford across the street got a bad tummy tuck or Mrs. O'Connor is having an affair with Mr. Bransford.
