I'm not an elitist,  but... doesn't saying I'm not one make me one?  Things are complicated.

So you prefer elevators over loading screens even if they are both tedious and boring? What?!

Also there are loading screens in ME1 too.

Those loading screens werent taking long at all.
And i didnt mind elevators at all, (music was playing, squadmates were talking with each other and you also heard the news).  I would take elevators over loading screens any day.

- Will Bioware bring back the infamous "Mission Complete" screen from ME2

Why is it infamous?

The 'discussion' scene after the mission hasn't been removed. It's just an addition that shows all the minerals that you have collected.

One thing I appreciated the "Mission complete" screen from ME2 is that they gave a very small insight about how TIM precieved the events of what just happend.

I also thought this was sort of cool, too.

Right I completely forgot. Yes this part is good.

I don't think the mission complete screens were ever an actual problem. To me the problem is that you can't ever fight outside of a mission. So you can run around spitting in all four eyes of every batarian you see and you know they can't ever fight you. That does seem a little strange, although it's hardly gamebreaking.

But frankly. That was the only thing I really liked about them. Since Cerberus is our enemy in ME3, it would not make sense for us to be able to read TIM's personal notes. And really, the reason those texts were interesting was because they were TIM's. I don't think any other characters point-of-view is as interesting to read about.

Some of us could not care less either way. As for Immersion breaking, Garrus throwing a water filled condom during a mission brief while quoting shakespear would be 'immersion breaking'...

It wasn't just the "mission complete" screens that I found annoying- it was the loading screens too. It was somewhat intrusive, immersion breaking, and didn't really help curb the linear feel of ME2 since they cropped up during every single zone change.

Granted, the elevators and airlocks in ME1 could be dull (more party banter anyone?), but I'd take them over a loading screen any day.

There were loading screens, true, but they were used far less frequently, were relatively minimalist, and didn't come up with those god-awful "handy hints". Far less immersion breaking. The same goes for elevators. They were dull, yes, but at least it didn't bring you out of the game as such.  I've seen several suggestions on these boards for dressing them up for more party banter e.t.c. which I agree with- more party dialogue, and helps break the tedium of a load screen. Two birds with one stone.

Loading screens are an inevitability in one form or another, I'd just like to see them presented in a way in which the impact on immersion is kept to a minimum.

Edit: Grammar.

One thing I always found hilarious about the loading screens in ME2. Instead of the elevator ride being the loading screen, now there's a loading screen showing... an elevator moving. Somehow it all changed but you're still stuck in an elevator :)

I have to say though loading screens are just something we should be able to forgive. Then again I do remember loading C64 games from tape. I could be irreparably damaged.

I think it was pretty good. I like to know how much cash and stuff I picked up during the mission sometimes.

And don't be such babies and say it breaks the immersion.

It simply doesn't feel like an RPG, it looks like the game has some Semi-Open areas where you can do a Mission Select, and when you play those levels, it just feel like a boring FPS Debriefing.

I want ME3 to be Open Worlded just like Mass Effect 1, and I don't want to see those Mission Complete Screen, everything in those debriefind can be told by usual conversations.

Ignoring all the flame baiting going on in this topic, the thing about Mass Effect 2 is that you are playing a series of "levels" but Bioware tried to disguise that.  Now for the most part they did an excellent job of disguising the fact we were just playing a series of levels.  If you need an example then there is the Galaxy Map which is not much more than a "mission select screen", but because Bioware put some thought and effort into it the Map it doesn't feel like a "mission select screen".

This is the problem with the Mission complete screen, it just re-inforces the fact you are just playing a series of levels.  It is such a shame that Bioware couldn't find away to "disguise" the mission complete screens and make it feel less like we just finished a "level".  If Bioware still feel that there is a need for the mission complete screen I really hope they make it optional via the email system.

As for the loading screens/elevators what ever solution Bioware come up with has to be better than the crappy movies we have right now that actually INCREASE the loading times.  If there must be loading times then concentrate on reducing the length of them rather than prettifying them up and actually increasing load times.

The debriefs of the first game were awesome, and did a great job of keeping you immersed. The feeling of sadness and tension was especially gripping after the virmire mission.

The mission complete screens are totally unnecessary IMHO, they only serve to book-end missions and make the game seem even more fragmented, so I would like to see the back of them.

FemSheps should have separate walking/running animations from ManShep. TBH, I find the animations for both male and female Sheps a downgrade from ME1.

One thing is very good about the mission complete screen though. You can look at it briefly and and tell right away if you got all the upgrades or not.

THIS. Without it, I wouldn't have known Legion was a squadmate on my first play and would've sold it to Cerberus. Chew on that naysayers.

Much of what was done in the Mission complete screen can be accomplished with the Journal (the recap of what happened) and some text in the corner telling you that you've leveled and/or gained x amount of credits. If the Missions are indeed larger, then perhaps a return of debriefs would be in order. I liked those in ME1 - they gave another opportunity for party interaction. We actually kind of had those for ME2, specifically after Horizon, the Derelict Reaper, and so forth. Not every character has to be present, but I like the idea of gathering the team and deciding where to go next.

The mission complete screen is stupid. Death to capped experience at 125 (156)  for annoying missions, how about more freedom for experience, yeah?

Mission complete screens don't necessarily bother me, but squad briefings are so much better. If I had a choice, I would have them go back to the briefings. A mission report at the Commander's private terminal would be a nice complement to the briefings. Actual things that matter, like plot points could be covered in the briefings, but stats, upgrades, etc could be in a report.
