I agree, though, at times it was a bit jarring. It would be nice if you could access that info from the private terminal. I hope we get a chance to troll the Council after every mission, like in the first game. That was fun.

I rather have written all in codex or have resources indicated in private terminal in Shepard quarters.
Also if people can't memorize what did they pick up then your IQ must realy be low.
Baldurs Gate, KOTOR, Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1, NWN, none of those games didn't have it or require it. Escpecially not ME2 since it was alot more dumbed down considering your inventory.

Ad hominems aren't a good way to argue.
I know which upgrades I'm supposed to get for each mission and I like seeing a small overview so I know I didn't forget anything, mostly because I tend to concentrate on the combat during missions. Upgrades are after all a very important part of the game.

Why should Mass Effect 2 copy everything about these other games?
One argument about it I do understand is how it seemingly breaks ME2 into different and very clearly defined levels. Not sure I like that part, or the way XP is awarded.
But all in all, it's not really something I would consider a big deal.

First of all its not copying anything, its how RPG game works. And second if there's anything that Complete screen is copying is ending of every level in FPS or RTS games. If you played other RPGs you would get my point but if you would miss upgrade thats your own fault. God, so many streamlined fans...

Also, being able to see what TIM thinks of the mission isn´t bad (although that bothered me in Arrival for example, on my Sheps who broke off with Cerberus...).
And yes of course, they could have done it better, and I really hope ME3 will be a bit different! Having debriefings witht the crew would be the coolest (but that means more animation etc.), and I´m sure there are other options as well!
But to be honest, this is one of the things I can care about less...

Suddenly being an RPG and not having a mission complete means copying...
Yet no one seems to care that they borrow mechanics from Gears of War.

Sorry can't finish that sentence. I hope they do it like they did in ME1 when after a mission you talk with the squad after the mission. Or like after a side mission, Admiral Hackett would brief you.

1) Bring back squad de-briefings or at least related dialogue with a squadmate or crew-member.
2) Have mission reports available at your terminal after the completion of a mission.

And yes, FemShep needs her own walk animation.

I know that what I'm about to say might rage some people, but I connect this with the fact that Bioware made ME2 more of a shooter and less RPG. Bioware was so hellbent on making ME2 an "accessible" experience to the point where they felt like they had to hold the player's hand. With that being said, the Mission Complete screen came into the fray. It is a quick and more "accessible" way for the player to see his/her results/recap of the mission in terms of how much money they made, minerals they've gathered, equipment/upgrades they bought and found, and a final recap of what happened in the mission.
So quick and accessible = not-RPG? Or RPG = slow and confusing?

Or, at least that's the way it seems to be judged by a lot of people.
MajesticJazz is right though: BioWare made ME2 too accessible and really did hold the player's hand too much, to the point where as an RPG fan it felt insulting. It was like the devs had jammed me in a high chair and were spoon-feeding me the whole time, and they'd never let me grab the spoon and feed myself, let alone let me out of the chair.
"Mission Complete" screens are basically BioWare saying, "here comes your RPG stuff... Zoooooom!" as they weave the spoon before you before jamming it in again to once again feed you the same tasteless mush you got the last time. They really do epitomise the whole "Fisher Price: My First RPG" feel that ME2 had. It's had enough they had to mainstreamline the game itself, but did they have to really baby everything up so much to such a degree as well? Do we really need things like that along with large info pop-ups with big pretty pictures resembling pop-up books, large-print interfaces with large buttons and pictures that waste space along with little decent info and repeatedly flashing messages at the bottom of our screens every time we can exit back to The Normandy?

If I don't have to crunch a bunch of numbers then it sucks!

- Will female Shepard's walking/running animations be based around that of a male like in ME2 instead of like a female in ME1
I find it funny that this was a problem in DA:O that was actually resolved in DAII. And then people complained about how funny it looked when the female characters ran.

Am I the only person not bothered by Femshep's animations or the Mission Complete screen? Compared to stuff like mineral scanning it was pretty innocuous. And I liked to read Cerberus' thoughts on the current mission anyway.
My immersion? It's a videogame, I can't get immersed in it.

Ah yes... mission complete screens... something to remind me i´m playing an action shooter, just awful and they can burn in hell.
Wow ... you can actually somehow forget you're playing a game when you're gaming?
Technically you can. For the same reason you can forget you are reading a book when you are reading. There are all types of psychological studies on this.
But what makes it possible is not immersion, but emotional engagement. When people are engaged, they lose track of time and actions become fluid and natural. That is why game designers avoid the word immersive these days and talking about engaging. Immersion is a poor man's substitute for when your game is not effectively emotionally engaging.

You're way off with this post. First of all, I'm a huge fan of RPGs. Played pen and paper RPGs: AD&D, Vampire, Call of Cthulhu, etc. I also played a lot of computer RPGs, starting around the time Baldur's Gate was released.
What I mean is this: You don't need to do things the way other games have done so far to be an RPG. That really has nothing to do with it. You're claiming I'm a "streamlined fan" and yet you're saying RPGs can never have mission complete screens?
You can still argue that it's not a good idea. But it doesn't mean the game is not an RPG.

The arguments about what constitute an RPG appear on these forums over and over again. What becomes clear is that several of these arguments come from people who have played a narrow subcategory of RPGs, largely defined by the computer RPG movement of the 90s and early 00s. They ignore the really bizarre pen-and-paper examples (like Toon) or the evolution of the hobby since the 70s.

If you need to review just look at how female Shepard moved in ME. I actually marveled at how well she moved in that game. From walk to run and back again. I would often choose to walk precisely because I was amazed at how good the walk-motion looked. Even on the Normandy when she was out of her combat suit, the slight hitches in the hips when she moved were a beautiful sight to see. If at all possible I'd want to see that in every Bioware game or every game period and possibly many variations of it because women move differently from one another.
