I just downloaded ME2 via EADM and downloaded the latest patch and noticed I keep losing my sound, its things like this why I stick with console gaming. All this faffing about downloading patches, installing, changing settings and then things don't work.

I have to keep restarting the game and the sound comes and goes randomly also whats up with the really long loading times?? I've got a dual core AMD, 8gb ddr2 ram and a 9800gt 512mb graphics card.

I have no issues with other games like left for dead 2 and WoW but only this.

To further add on the intro I get sound as soon as the start screen comes up I lose sound, then when I click on exit game I have to then to ctrl+alt+dlt to and then close the game manually cos it says it is still running as I cannot start the game up again without doing this first.

This is extremely annoying downloaded an 11.6gb file only to constantly lose the sound.

well, first of all i would suggest posting a bit more detailed system information, which dual core, os, etc.

From what you've posted so far, i would suggest reinstalling the game and making sure that your computer meets the system requirements. Just because you can run other games fine, doesn't mean that ME2 has to run fine as well.

Ive sorted the problem out, updated my bios and sound drivers.

However it takes around 1min and 30secs to load each time the loading area comes up! Seems like the loading time is a lot longer than the 360 version :-(

you could try a google search, i think there was a trick to speed up loading times for systems with dual core.

This is a common problem with AMD dual cores and BioWare never cared to fix this. Playwrite made a program called MassAffinity that replaces the Mass Effect 2 shortcut. It should reduce load times significantly:

downloads.zafehouse.com/massaffinity/ma_latest.zip

The original fix was to launch the game, ctrl+alt+del, go to processes, change affinity for ME2 to 1 core, apply, change it back to two cores, start playing. This tool does that automatically.

I have an issue with sound missing temporarily. Usually it's parts of dialogue that I'm used to hearing on the xbox version.

On the xbox version however, I've had the sound turn off completely several times now.

Not amused :)
