Since Bulldozer is a key element within the Trinity APU series, I believe that AMD will have to work on various of this CPU core's incompatibilities long before that next one can replace it.

I ran into the same problem on Noveria whilst replaying ME1, ironically after I bought shiny new hardware because ME3 multiplayer was frying my 5 year old CPU.

My new setup:

AMD FX-8120
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
ASUS GeForce GTX 460
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 64x Professional

I've heard this bug slowly cripples Ilos, and I'm really not going to play through that amazing level watching nothing but black blobs. Hope there's a solution to this.

Are we expecting a fix for this?

Gorath Alpha wrote...

Certainly not from Bioware / EA. The game is three years old now, two years past any likelihood of further patches.

The above situation has zero likelihood of changing.  Owners of Bulldozer CPUs will have to hope AMD can figure it out, themselves.

Updated my BIOS to v 1102, 2012-03-28. Didn't work. Damn.

According to this thread on Amazon, Gigabyte mobo owners might be more lucky: http://www.amazon.co...#wasThisHelpful

That's good news, if one mobo manufacturer has solved it, so can the others hopefully :)

I'd played through ME1 two times before making the video and posting here, and the bug only happens on Noveria and Ilos (Ilos is much worse than Noveria though), ME2 is fine and unaffected by this bug.

For me its not really a game breaker as you can still get a great experience from the game so I'm perfectly fine with the bug, though a little irked that I didn't get to see Ilos in its glory.

There's some older logs from another ME1 playthrough in my Logs directory, and it has the same errors, which means they're probably small debug lines left in the release version of the game.

All except this one:

[27.595] Log: Shader compiling for material Nodebuddy_GOOD took 9.46s

That one's unique to my new playthrough.

Have you tried the BIOS update for Gigabyte motherboards (a link to Amazon I posted earlier in this thread)? It's been reported to work by some. It'd be nice to have at least someone resolve this bug so we know it's not all up to EA...

In the mean time I've been talking back and forth with EA Customer Service, which has mostly been an exercise in futility. I'm beginning to feel bad for whoever is at the other end of my e-mails, being asked to solve a problem they cannot solve as CE employees. No matter how many clean boots or re-installs, this bug is on a deeper level than a driver conflict or disabling your firewalls. I give them props for trying and responding quickly, though.

I did try the bios update for Gigabyte motherboards. But no result. My current version of my motherboard BIOS is F8. It only updates the CPU AGESA to 1.2.0.2. My guess is that the FX processors are the problem. Anything else?

Who in here are you asking? AMD isn't getting this forwarded directly to them, nor are any of the mainboard producers, AFAIK!  If your motherboard producer sponsors forums and monitors the complaints there, that would be where to ask that question.

The game is over three years old, no one from EA has ever monitored in here, and TTBOMK, Bioware only monitored the original Legacy forum until the first patch came out.

Actually I've reported this bug to AMD and ASUS customer service, too. Both gave me a generic "disable your firewalls, clean reboot, shutdown unnecessary services" blah blah blah. EA did the same. None of those type of solutions are going to work, sadly.

That gives a person some feeling of accomplishment, while a long message thread in an MB Maker's own forum with several dozen different people naming the same problem, might actually get through to some engineers. I haven't heard back from any of you whether you have joined forums for Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, whatever companies are producing the mainboards for the Bulldozers.

The response I got from EA was that since it was a problem that customer service couldn't fix, they'd pass it on to the dev team. Then they suggested I check out the forums (after I pointed out that I had, and even linked to this thread). But hey, it's better than them telling me to turn my firewall off!

Its kinda annoying on Ilos. Apart from that its fine, not overall game ruining :D. Hopefully a fix will come, if not I can always look up on youtube the Illos section and watch it there ^_^. Noveria is only a tiny section which has very little dialogue.

I have beat this horse untill its hamberger... MY solution was simple ... The i7 3930K and ASUS Sabertooth X79 Motherboard... everything else is the same my MSI Lightning 6970 CoolerMaster 1200W PS... 2 TB HD.... Deus Ex doesnt "stutter " anymore AND NO black pixles in ME1. I tried to get my son to trade me his Phenom II X 6 1055 even for my 8150 ... and he would not lol. NE only has the 1045 so I BIT the bullet. Yeah its a quad core but every bench mark is significantly higher with the i7 Sandy Bridge E than my 8150. I will sell it to someone or just get a nice case reinstall my old gear and sell it for a few hundred bucks ( not with the 6970). It looks like to me that AMD IS turning a blind eye . BUT hey its only pixles in a video game .... I get that BUT they have lost my business. Everything else with my 8150 was great. ... I could no longer be ignored.
