"We are the Borg resistance is futile." We are the Reapers the pinacle of evolution"

What do you think?

Common sci-fi trope. Also see: yeerks, the zerg, etc.

They gonna assimilate you.

At this point I'm thinking Shadows/Vorlons before anything else.

This. With a dash of the Inhibitors from Revelation: Space.

Exactly! They even paraphrase Lovecraft in the derelict Reaper.

Except Cthulhu is much less evil than the Reapers, Actually I'm thinking Cthulhu is a ''good'' character ! He killed Bieber ! ^_^

Nah seriously, you're right about this point.

I think of the Reapers as sort of like The United States, one big assimilationist melting pot, arrogant, and warlike.

I'm not seeing the comparison until the Reapers break out their spandex-thralls.

Funny, I think of the galaxy as Europe. Unorganized, clueless, and smelly.

I'm telling you, they're advancing our state of evolution with rather extremist methods. It's going to take one very specific man to stop them.

Really don't think that is limited to the USA. To me I see that mentality with western Europe as a whole. (excluding a few countries) As an American, (who criticizes his country's policies) I get annoyed seeing Imperialistic, racist, reactionary mentality being strictly attributed to the US and not western society as a whole.

Seriously. You don't see any serious movements in the US to ban burqas for example, as in France.

Oh and the Borg=Reaper comparison doesn't really work. The Borg stopped being cool, omnipotent boogymen bad guys with First Contact and Star Trek Voyager. Borg Queen was the worst concept ever.
