and you know what's in between ? ICELAND !

They have Björk.
Iceland wins.

...Actually, I bet you what finally comes to defeat the Reapers will be Inuit throat singing. The Alliance resurrects Tanya Tagaq, put her in a small shuttle and tell her to sing. The singing reaches some extra-terrestrial frequency which short-circuits every single Cthulhu-esque system of evil within the Reapers and subsequently fries them inside-out.

Hey, if we are to go with the "humens r speciul" scenario, why not take it someplace interesting?

I think of the Reapers as sort of like The United States, one big assimilationist melting pot, arrogant, and warlike.

Really don't think that is limited to the USA. To me I see that mentality with western Europe as a whole. (excluding a few countries) As an American, (who criticizes his country's policies) I get annoyed seeing Imperialistic, racist, reactionary mentality being strictly attributed to the US and not western society as a whole.

Seriously. You don't see any serious movements in the US to ban burqas for example, as in France.

True. However, you have to get worried with some states trying to ban "Sharia Law" from taking hold. Kind of Ironic seeing as how some Far-right Christians in the US have more in common with far-right Muslims.

she was hot

That might have been the case. (not for me) I just hated the concept of the Borg Collective being personified into a femme fatale designed to seduce Data. One of the silliest aspect of that movie.

The Borg would destroy the reapers . Plus at least the Borg was a serious threat to everyone in Star Trek . The reapers are just stupid

Of course. She was pretty much everything the borg weren't supposed to be. But that's Star Trek for you. At least it's better than Star Wars.

I dont disagree, ^_^. I probably shouldn't have thrown in the last 2 descriptors of the US, I was just trying to expand on the idea that assimilation is a very widespread concept and couldn't resist a little bit of stereotype humor. (I'm an American actually).

You realise of course that if it weren't for the success of Star Wars there never would have been a Next Generation. :P

Oh and the Borg=Reaper comparison doesn't really work. The Borg stopped being cool, omnipotent boogymen bad guys with First Contact and Star Trek Voyager. Borg Queen was the worst concept ever.

Absolutely.  The Borg Queen was a complete contradiction to the entire purpose of the Borg.  You went from a distributed, fault-tolerant system to one with a single point of failure.

But I know the reason they did this. The Borg as designed were essentially unbeatable (the stupid feedback loop in Best of Both Worlds should never have worked).  The Queen was introduced to gimp them and make them vulnerable.

There also wouldn't be crap like the prequels, so I consider it a wash at best.

I prefer DS9 by a country mile. But then, I have to thank TNG for its inception.

I could never get into Deep Space 9, just didn't find the characters as interesting. Of course there was no Wesley so that's always a plus.

Which began the Self Destruction of the Borg (a concept that I liked) and the gradual decline of the Star Trek TV and Movie Franchise. (Thank JJ Abrams for bringing it back)  I honestly didn't think that Star Wars had a huge decline when compared to Star Trek. (granted I prefer Star Wars)
To me the biggest problem with the Prequel Trilogy is that George Lucas Directed all three of them. I do think that he is a good writer/concept man but when it can to working with actors he didn't know what the hell he was doing. It clearly showed with some of the younger actors who had some of the worst dialog of the Trilogy.
His next big problem was focus. I think that if he better focused on the Character development (specifically the Anakin/Padme romance) and the political climate of the Republic it would have been a better series. (And get rid of the sight gags)

Star Trek had far bigger problems. (Rick Berman and Brannon Braga)

I see a lot of similarities between them. Reapers want to destroy worlds for reproduction. The same goes with the Borg they reproduce themselves by assimilate people into the Borg. It's as Saren said organic and synthetic intertwined as one.

Is there anything you like about Mass Effect outside of The Illusive Man,  Cerberus,  and I assume Miranda?

They're nothing like the Borg. They are Cthulhu-inspired, according to the devs.

They remind me somewhat of the Eternal Ones in Star Control 3.

Hyper evolved beings who fed on sentience, they would let a galaxies life evolve then visit is and harvest the sentience, wiping out all sentient life. They would then leave and let the cycle begin anew, in that game there was a lot of exploring to find and study artifacts left by the Precursers who were the dominant lifeforms at the time of the last harvest.
