I believe that the Old God's are in fact very powerful demons from deep withen the fade possessing dragon bodies. 
I'd just like to get some opinions while I try to expand upon my theory. Also, if anything I've posted here has been proven[/b] false, please let me know. 
First point:[/u][/b] Demons could have ben attracted to dragons because, as I'm sure everybody's noticed, dragons are very large and powerful. 
Second point:[/u][/b] The old god's were have thought to have taught the Tevinter mages how to do magic (blood magic?). Now however, most mages have to consult with demon of the fade to learn blood magic. Connection perhaps? 
Third point:[/u][/b]The marker said "Magic must serve man[/b], not[/b] rule over him[/b]," now magic doesn't nesicarily mean mages, demons can do magic too, so (if the maker does exist) the Maker could have banished the old gods not only cause they were 'false' gods, but because since they were considered gods, they held power over those who worshiped them. 
Fourth point:[/u][/b] Flemeth is considered by many to be an old god, so let's just say that's true for now. According to the legends about Flemeth she was possessed by a powerful demon. 
[/u][/b]Fifth point:[/u][/b] The blight apparently originated from magisters going to the Golden City (a deep part of the fade) and they became the first darkspawn. As everybody knows, the old Gods (Aka Archdemon) leads the darkspawn horde, so perhaps (if my theory's correct) since the darkespawn did come from deep within the fade, just like these demons possessing the dragon, that creates a connection between the Archdemon and Darkspawn
[/u][/b]Sixth Point:[/u][/b] ArchDEMON, enough said
Seventh point:[/u][/b] Zazikel is the dragon of chaos, and the fade is a place of chaos. 

With the focus on the Darkspawn in DA:O, and all the mage and tevinter info in DA2, I doubt we've seen the last of the Archdemon's or the Old Gods.

I'd like to believe the Old Gods are something a little more unique than that.

I think that Morrigan says that Flemeth is not a demon or an abomination in Witch Hunt.
