The truth is that they did have romance scences for DAII, but at the last minute they decided not to put it into the game because they felt the public just wasn't ready for spikey underwear. Perhaps they will release the romance scences as a dlc.

IMO, without mods, DAO kissing was just plain dull, while I was quite taken by those in DA2. My main complaint is that we can't initiate a kiss or sex scene of our own accord.
In terms of the actual sex scenes, I wish we saw just a bit more in DA2, but DAO's were still pretty terrible, not to mention awkward... especially Zevran's *shudder.*

lol
You only have yourself to blame if you're worried about romance with Zevran.

The original scenes themselves didn't look to bad once you had the natural body mod in place, which always made me wonder if they were originally intended to be underwear free but that the underwear was added back after the ME uproar.

As to the original question, I certainly enjoyed the overall romances in DA:O (to me the felt deeper, and had more to them with an much better emotional connection to the LI).  In terms of the romantic/sex scenes, I didn't mind them in DA2, I thought they worked quite well, and in some cases carried the feel of the character in question with them, that said, I thought DA:O's scenes fit (once you removed the underwear of course)

Mass Effect.

But from the available choices:
Modded (with nude body only) Origins > DA2 > unmodded Origins

Personally, I just don't care enough for even suggested sex scenes. I think a simple kissing scene that fades into a short black-out then into the next sequence where you continue on with your quest is fine. I do think that kissing anytime is OK and would be a nice edition.

The sad thing is that sex scenes WERE meant to be added for DA2.

There were screenshots of naked pics of Hawke with Isabella, Hawke with Merrill, and Hawke with Fenris.

But all of them got taken out for God-knows-what-reasons!

I guess your sadness is from personal tastes, and I am not saying your tastes are bad. I just don't feel, IMO, that actual sex scenes add to the role playing of games. I can use my imagination just fine during the blackouts. While I am in no way a prude and think they are acceptable, there is the "kid" factor involved and I can see some parental concerns, no matter how the ratings system works. Maybe add a password feature in the options of the game where suggestive, or even explicit scenes can be turned off during gameplay.

Hm my ranking would be:

1 - Morrigan (DAO)
2 - Merrill (DA2)
3 - Alistair (DAO)
4 - Leliana (DAO)
5 - Aveline (DA2)
6 - Anders (DA2)
7 - Isabella (DA2)
8 - Zevran (DAO)
9 - Fenris (DA2)

Which means DAO is a tiny bit in front.

Well the OP is probably more about the sex scenes, I didn't really like any much. I would be fine with just a kiss.

The romances was definitely better in Origins, it just felt more... i don't knowm natural? But the scenes... yes that is a hard one. Choosing between the underwear wrestling in Origins and fade to black in DA II i would probably take the former but i don't really think any of them was particular good. Mass Effect is the closest to perfection i have seen in a BioWare game if you only look at the scene itself but then again, that too was over all too fast and there wasn't really very much talking, neither before or after.

The best love scene i have seen in any game was in Heavy Rain. Not that it is on par with the kind of love scenes you would find in movies and books but for a game, i thought it was well executed. Atleast i haven't seen anything since that i thought surpassed it but then again, most developers dosn't even have the balls to do what BioWare and Quantic Dream does.

The DA2 love scenes werent good at all, I kinda wish they didnt put them in there at atll, they were really lame for a M rated game, I like the DAO ones, they seemed a bit more natural, maybe it was the music or something:>

With all four companions in Dragon Age II, they were love scenes, rather than sex scenes.  I enjoyed them tremendously.
With Dragon Age I, they were pretty much sex scenes, and I didn't like them at all.  Sorry.

... Mass Effect 2 had a mix of both: some of the scenes were pure sex, and some were romantic-love.  I think I liked the mix of the two types of scenes (with different companions) the best. Something for everyone...

Lol. Great description.

Personally, it looked rather like action figures.

Weren't those just snaps from the normal scenes, with the character clothes removed?

So they were trying to scam us by making us think there were naked romance scenes, when there were actually none?

Either that or they where simply cut from the game because it was too controversial.

Yes, I agree,  MY hawk want to kiss her Li anytime, or invite the Li to sleep at home, doesn't have to trigger the movie every time tho.

Witcher 2.

*troll face*

But all seriousness, the love scenes in DA2 were disappointing.

For goodness sake, the games are rated M for MATURE not T or E. Why so restrained on the sex?

Whether the love scenes were semi-nude or clothed doesn't matter to me as much as the dialogue, flirting, and kissing, leading up to the final act. (which in my game was almost hilarious). My female Hawke romanced Anders, and the final scene, where he leaped on her, fully clothed, was a real turn off. I would rather have had a "fade to black" than that awkward scene.

Heh I quite liked that scene but then I was playing a male Hawke (I am female - I just prefer to play male characters). The kiss was pretty passionate. That's all that's needed, really.

Really, I'd rather have some clothed rolling around before a tasteful fade than two people humping awkwardly in their underwear. (And yes, I eventually resported to Natural Bodies).
