Definitely DAII. The Vanilla Romance scenes in DAO were cringe worthy, right down to the kitschy music theme. As for Mods, DAO Modded love scenes are better but I never liked the "Better Sex Scenes" Mod. Loved IRS though.

Still, DAII's love scenes are amazing. (Esp. Kind and Snarky Hawke. "Want a sandwich?" had me sputtering....and Anders' reaction is spot on!)

Hey!! I liked that kitchy music lol, I didnt have any love with male companions so I cant comment on them, but with Isabella and Merril, they were both pretty dry:<

We need to stop comparing DA2 to Origins. The game already has an Inferiority complex. Lets not make it worse.

Thats not true, there are somethings that Da2 does do better then DaO. Is it an inferior game? I guess it depends on what you are comparing.

I'll take the romantic scenes of DA2 over the awkward granny panties humping of Origins.

I like both for different reasons DAO with mods - amazing, the pre and post talks in DA2 the same - I guess for me the ideal would be somewhere in between - showing a bit more skin like DAO but keeping some taste about it like DA2

Well ME did it right. But if BW is scared to death to do that again (even though they have no problems with exploding bodies) then just fade the whole thing to black. Anything in between is just awkward.

So they were trying to scam us by making us think there were naked romance scenes, when there were actually none?

I wouldn't personally describe it as a scam, but sure. Screens like these two do just look like their in-game romance scenes, devoid of clothes.

Probably for the best. Aside from anything else, those shots are both downstairs, which means Sandal, Bodahn and your mother would be watching. Awkward.

Origins by quite a bit because the relationships felt natural and you really felt for your character and LI and not shoehorned, shallow, and fractured to accommodate most sexual preferences like DA2.

Can't say i liked either of them really. imo ME1 holds the lead in that department.

I would have to choose DA:O, the characters and quality of the writing seemed better so I was more interested in seeing my characters interact with them. In DA 2, romantic involvements for Hawke seemed less serious and even more awkward. Isabella and Merrill seemed too predictable to me, and Anders didn't seem appealing and Fenris just seemed like Zevran's long lost cousin who was overly serious and didn't seem to have an in-character reason to stick around.

^ This.

All DA2 romances were too extreme. Merill: wrist-slitting girl-next-door, Isabela-busty sl*t and backstabber, Fenris - emo slave boy, Anders - possessed human rights activist. Oh and don't forget Sebastian, the now chaste, former playboy who's a hypocritical devout! *facepalm*

The ME1 style cutscene was the best that Bioware produced so far, but of course The Witcher 2 will actually use the 'mature' rating and not be silly and immature about sex, putting this game to shame.

Afraid have to say both games felt rather lukewarm, though for different reasons.

DAO had scenes which were pretty blatant and "busy" with lot of changes happening during a short clip, and i'm not much of a fan of that.

With DA2 it's more difficult to put the finger on it, but it's likely a combination of having very little attachment to the characters (which in turn was caused by limited interaction and pretty much lack of romance buildup) and long distance camera shots in the scenes i got to see -- up-close generates sense of intimacy, while instead the distance used in large parts of DA2 sequences resulted in feeling like some unrelated 3rd party peeping on pair of strangers. It also put some focus on the room rather than characters involved (since it takes large part of the scene) and that didn't help.

All imo, of course.

fem-hawke's party face in the isabela romance. :D

The music for the DA:O scenes was shocking. I died inside.

In Dragon Age 3 all romances will include full plate armor and fullbody condomes.

Seriously, with each new Bioware game they chicken out more and more and cover characters up.

Agree. Suppose we should all "thank" the neo-conservatives and Fox "News" for not having any of that any longer.

I think that the scenes of both games were lacklustre really. DA2 went black before anything happened and in Origins they managed to have sex with their underwear still on. DA2 takes the cake though because we don't see anything and thus can't complain about the scene itself.

I don't think any of the love scenes in the DA series have been good, and in fact, they only seem to be getting worse. What Bioware did in ME1 however was perfect. It was tasteful, not offensive, sensual, and added a sense of realism to the romance. Sensuality is appropriate and necessary for an emotional connection to the characters engaged in the romance. Unfortunately, they have been gradually moving away from the ME1 style scene (see comic link below) with each successive release of DA and ME. It's to the point now that their love scenes could just be left out completely. Personally, if they aren't going to ever return to what they did in ME1, they shouldn't even bother having a love scene.

This comic pretty much sums it up:  http://www.nerfnow.com/comic/image/481

In mass effect 1 you felt as if you had to work hard to get the love scene, but in DA:O you just have to give your love interest a lot of gifts to get the love scene

Hmm well, DA2 did get alot of 'emotion', rather passion across in some of their scenes, even if they didn't show much.
I'd like something inbetween, More visible as with DA:O but more passion like in DA2.
DA2 was without a doubt more sexy, even though it lacked nudity.

But then I pref such things, I'd pick Kaidan's 'almost-kiss' over the actual love-scene any day.

On a sidenote, I have to say that in DA2 they do manage to provoke alot of emotion in the player too, just because of the things you learn about the characters later on in the game.
Asmuch as I don't always like how extreme some turn out being, it works well enough in provoking a reaction =P
