DAII 6
I would else gave it 7 but because developers lied about importing your decisions i gave it less.
99% of all choices you did in DA:O wont matter in DAII.

Matter of opinion, for me the Fade only is annoying in second playthrough. Deep Roads is the best dungeon of DAO, it likes Moria in LOTR, make players feel we go deep into the earth, to meet an unseen and terrible enemy, no way to escape. Played it on Nightmare, i feel really satisfied when completed it. Legion of the Dead are heroic and memorable, if Deep Road is small and pathetic like in DA2, those guys are nothing to notice.PresidentCowboy wrote...

Yeah, kind of baffles me when people claim it is. Did anyone seriously enjoy the Fade / Deep Roads?

first few playthroughs yes, very much. a bit tedious on later playthroughs, especially the Fade since you don't have party banter and there's no choices (although the different nightmares were fun to see), but still much better than DA2's too short and too overly used dungeons

fade no, i liked the idea behind the fade but between it being hard to navigate and the most common area i'd CTD in wouldn't say i liked it.
Deep roads i thought was cool myself but i always liked the dungeon crawl part of BG1/2 as well

Dragon Age 2: 9/10
so much fun for me, this games are just what I like: superior story, great fights (specialy DA2), humor.
Little grapical issues, or changes from DA:O to DA2 really don`t matter for me.

I liked the Deep Roads to be honest. The fade I didn't care for. I don't know whether it was walking around solo, or having to change back and forth between all the forms. Stealth mouse ftw

DA1 and D2 = 8.5ish each.
Way too many DA1 fanboys rating it a ridiculous 9+.
DA1 = great role-playing
DA2 = better story and better characters (example: varric > oghren)
The story is subjective, some prefer grand epic stories which is inline with DAO, while others prefer the more personal type of stories aka DA2. Neither are better just different. I hate personal stories myself after giving DA2 a try to see what make of it. Learned I hate framed narrative approach and personal story. DAO is like akin to LOTR while DA2 is a soap opera or documentary it did try to be Gladiator but failed imho given its huge plot hole gaps and time skips aswell as disjointed nature..

Yes I did as did many of people here, it was what it was supposed to be, a vast underground network of tunnels inhabited by darkspawn hence thats where they come from during blights. Therefore it did it's job fine being a large area of importance to the story and being underground in appearence with darkspwn inside the tunnels. It felt how it was supposed to feel and if your in the mindset of placing yourself in character for the game it shouldn't make much difference as if you only replay to experience a tiny fraction of a game and skip the rest you end up better off watching youtube videos. The same could be said for the fade and the ability to shapeshift inside it made it even more enjoyable imho.

Fade... Depends, mostly I just "work" it off, because I'm solo, and the fights aren't really tactical.
So, yeah, honestly, I don't ENJOY it.
Deep Roads... Hell yeah, awesome dungeon crawling, great big long rewarding quests.
Either way, it's true what you say, DA:O is not a perfect game.
But then you take the negative feedback and improve in those areas, instead of just scratching everything and making a half-assed atempt at a hack-n-slash action game with RPG elements.
(and that's NOT taking repetitive maps and bugs into considration)

DA:O only seems like a 9 or 10 compared to DA2. But game review scores are generally over the top - I adhere to the Darkhour scale.

1 Pure ****, the developer's families should be murdered in front of them.
2 Horrible, we all agree it is objectively sucky
3 Not fun to me, but maybe certain people might like it.
4 sub-average, but entertaining nonetheless
5 Being average, not bad, but not all that good either
6 Above average, but ultimately forgettable
7 Good game
8 Really good game
9 Great gaming experience by anyone's standards
10 Legendary gaming experience.

I wish DA2 had something like the Deep Road segment (in terms of length intensity shock value etc).
There is flaw in the gameplay but Origin has a very compelling setting and i really enjoyed the roleplaying aspect.
I also preferred the more down to earth artwork of DA:O compared to DA:2.
I would give DA:O and DA:2 the same score however because i play on the PS3 (and by gosh we had the worst version as compared to the other 2) and DA:2 combat port better to the console than Origins did.
About an 8 to a 9 for both games. Actually maybe slightly lower for DA:2

There is no such thing as a perfect game. No matter how good, you can always find flaws. This goes for every game i have ever played, the good aswell as the bad. That dosn''t change that Origins is amoung the very best games i have ever played, which is why i personaly gave it 10. I can imagine gonzalovn did it for the same reason but ofcause i don't know. One thing is sure however, he/she didn't do anything to deserve your fanboy remark.

I give DAO an 8.5 and DA2 an 8.
I was here throughout DAO's release, and I don't recall a single point of hatred or contention, much less for "months," whereas there are dozens of such issues, legitimate issues, brought up about DA2.

I do not agree w/ that definition; a game (or aspects of the game) could still be thought of "perfect" (whatever that means), yet could still theoretically be improved. (For example, I'd say the music score for DAO was darn-near perfect... yet in theory, a better score could one day be composed for a sequel)
Though I wouldn't say DAO was perfect. Close in many ways, though.

DAO: 9
DA2: 8.5 (=> not direclty comparable. had a lot stuff better. love the female witty protagonist, and storyline, but hated repetitive setup) Its like honey pie vs cherry pie for me. Fans upset as they expected more cherry pie (man i was also upset by the changes at first and wrote flamming reviews. love now a lot of the changes. mage combat pacing remembers me of Ultima Online PK times back when Origin Systems was still in charge... feels great)
Replays:
DAO: 8.5
DA2: 6-7

my first experience with DAO was on the 360 since it was already $20 off 2 weeks after it came out, man that was a dreadful first experience of a game... i loved Bioware games but i had to force myself to finish DAO on the 360, for the most part back in fall 2009 Demon's Souls was easily my rpg goty, it seemed pretty common that if you thought DAO was amazing you played the PC version... i sold my 360 copy as soon as i beat it then bought the PC version on steam which was a totally different experience
