I would likely give it a 5.5. It would of gotten a 6 if there were fewer bugs and a 7.5 if it wasn't a sequel that didn't have a thing to do with the first game in regards to art direction, play style or plot. So yes, it gets a 5.5 from me, not worth the purchase.

Edit: Oops, you asked for both.

DA:O - 9.95 (Flawed, but so much better than the sum of its parts. It put my body in overdrive.)
DA 2 - 8 (More flawed, but still fun and extremely replayable)

Maybe you can help me then, how exactly is this "extremely replayable"? Not attacking your personally I just cannot see this at all I've finished it once I still havent been able to stomach putting the disc in the machine as of yet to replay it. What makes it replayable for you?

The game plays a lot different on PC than Xbox 360/PS3, its a lot more stategic so replayabilty is better.
DAO:8
DA2:8.75

It doesnt really add much though does it, what can you do different? Anything? Oh i can change my class and gender yay! I have played console and pc version and yes the combat is better but it still doesnt give me any reason to play it again.

DAO- 9

DAII- 6

WARNING the following is almost pure opinion.

Where Origins got me to play several playthroughs, DAII almost made me put it down before the first one, exploding bodies, ridicules wave system, and recycled maps the only thing ~in my opinion~ DAII it had going for it was story and with the third act even that was not on par with Origins.

I also think that DAII is the “spokesperson” of the direction that all BioWare games are heading, where more focus is on action and streamlined elements rather then tactics and Core RPG elements.

On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being "EXTREME PAINTBRAWL" and 10 being "Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn", I would rate:

Dragon Age II:   6/10
DA: Origins:       7/10

Dragon Age Origins wasn't perfect but it was at least a reasonably strong attempt at the classic RPG. The class system was pretty pathetic though. Dragon Age 2 was abysmal. It was the clear-cut point where I can say "This was where Bioware was fully assimilated by EA."

Myself being a long time fan of Bioware, can't give an honest no. on your scale because both games stunk with many flaws BUT i still enjoyed playing them. try making sense of that on a scale of 1 to 10.

Dragon Age: Origins - 9
Dragon Age 2 - 7

Reasoning:

DA:O:   No game is perfect. DA:O had a number of bugs that persist still to this day that annoy me. However, the toolset has enabled talented and generous modders to help fix these problems as well as allowing them to create stunning new cosmetic and imaginative mods for the game that has made DA:O a game that can easily be replayed over and over. The Deep Roads was a bit tedious, but it doesn't really bother me that much. Any of my other issues are merely nitpicky and aren't worth mentioning here.

DA2: The length was the main reason for such a low score. This game is so damned short in comparison to the original. The recycled environments is another; normally I don't even care or even notice these things but it was painfully clear to even me that they simply didn't have the time to make unique environments for each quest or area and that really was distracting. The sheer amount of gameplay-breaking bugs is another reason (the Isabela/Sebastian slow bug is a good example). The uglification of several DAO characters (such as Alistair and Zevran). The absolute refusal to even attempt to maintain Isabela's looks from DAO still rankles even though I actually prefer the voice, characterization and clothing better. The lack of a proper toolset so the modding community can get to work on fixing some of the gameplay-breaking bugs is kind of a turn off as well.

And, as a purely shallow complaint, what they did to Anders. I happened to love Anders from Awakening, thus the fact that they turned him into someone who will never be able to achieve happiness and will suffer endlessly through time immemorial just really hurts. :(

8.5-9.0 or thereabouts, which should be a good average for all the criteria I might use to judge the game - literary, gameplay, whatever.

Dragon Age: Origins: 8.5
Dragon Age 2: 8
Both games are flawed, and both have separate problems that need to be improved upon. However I enjoyed both fairly equally. Then again, I never went into either game with extreme expectations and tried to enjoy each for all they were worth instead of hyper focusing upon the aspects that I found questionable. That's what I did with Oblivion, and it's forever tainted my opinion of what was essentially a fairly good game - though still an inferior product to it's predecessor.

Dragon Age: Origins would be a seven. It was decent but it had some issues.

Dragon Age II would be a five. Decidely mediocre.

I'd give it a well deserved 8 personally, pros for what I consider to be a smart story, for once the main char leads than be lead, the companions are pretty good, voice acting and writing is brilliant albeit a little loose here and there, I like the graphics update, not mind blowing but its much better (yay sky!!!). points deducted for the UI glitches (spells not firing off, randomly unable to interact with environment because char portrait is greyed out), annoying maps, (the doors with no interaction that seem to lead somewhere do my nut in), it gets a bit glitchy on the audio and framerate

DAO - 8.9 - Some bland character models and extremely slow two handed sword and mage combat. But the story was continuous and big.

DA2 - 6.8 - Combat for the mage and two hander was better imo. But the game is just fetch quests. Your not playing the story of Hawk , your doing quests until the real player emerges at the end.

I was able to replay DAO several times. DA2 my girl couldnt finish the second act without getting bored of all the quests. I was able to beat DA2 and playthrough twice. Thats enough for me.

Without context a 7. But when regarded as the sequel to Origins and as a Bioware title, no more than a 6.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I believe I'm seeing a trend in these rankings.

Those who seem to be scoring DA2 much lower then DAO are PC players who seem to have a lot of rpg experience behind them. Such as playing other fantastic PC rpg's like BG2 as an example. So they not only compare DA2 to DAO but they also compare it in the back of their minds with every other great rpg they have played.

Those whom seem to be scoring DA2 relatively close to DAO (with in a point or so) seem to have less rpg experience or are console players. With respect I think it's safe to say that the console hasn't had the type of high quality in depth rpg titles that the PC has had over the many years.

Lastly those who score DA2 above DAO seem to have the least rpg experience, are predominately console players, or are doing so to cause controversy/support Bioware.

I may be completely wrong on this assessment but that just seems to be the way these rankings are shaping up in my opinion.

DA:O - 9.5 - incredible story, loveable characters, traditional RPG aspects and nice graphics.

DA2 - 6.5 - it missed out on everything above, but the gameplay was fun.

DA:O had some great scenes like Leliana's song, nicer romance arcs, beautiful moments...

The most memorable scene for me in Origins was the Post-Coronation where I actually cried.
In DA2 was during the marketing, when they announced the Ser isaac Clarke armor. I couldn't stop laughing at that.

DAO: 9
DA2- 8.5

The combat is pure awesome no matter if you're a warrior, rogue or mage- very different styles, but all badass.

Only gripe i have is the actual storyline... in DAO your comrades are dead, and it's up to you to gathering an army to defeat the Blight... the story is epic, and you feel that whatever you do has real importance and urgency. In DA2... i find myself simply earning money for an expedition... to make MORE money (for a good third of the game)? act 2 only becomes more intriguing/engaging near the end as well...

be that as it may, it is still an great game, and i've already started my 2nd playthrough (and planning my third)
