First playthrough:
DA:O: 9
DA2: 6
Subsequent playthroughs:
DA:O: 9
DA2: 3
DA2 was okay (not great, but not terrible) first time through, but now it feels like a chore on new playthroughs.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate DA2?

and one word to describe DA2 codswallop ( I couldn't resist, I love that word).
DAO 9
DA2 5 (it went up after I played a mage, would have gone higher if the whole plot hole(s) with my mage hadn't constantly broke immersion, but it was fun to fireball the heck out of stuff)

I just can't stand battles or conversations in Origins....it's like watching paint dry.

DAO:8 Very enjoyable but with room for improvement, graphics, mute main character etc.
DA2:5 Boring setting with re-used areas. Boring Combat. Generally dull characters. Mediocre in every sense.

Hard to attach an arbritary number when the reasons a game is enjoyable or not depends on many things most of which are subjective. This is why a game can be both more or less, than the sum of its parts.
Did I enjoy the Dragonage games.
DAO: Yes of course!
DA2: Not so much.

DA:O - This game gets 8/10 from me. Understandably, since it was the first ever game in the DA setting (Thedas), it naturally tried to bring out everything that the setting had in store and add some meaning to it. The game was an interesting playthrough, but overall it lacked the drive of its successor and the main theme was centered on the beaten to death world-saving scenario. DA:O played an important role in introducing the all-new setting that the BioWare team had created. Essentially this game is something of a stepping stone towards more fleshed out and more focused adventures in the world of DA.
DA2 - This game gets a 9/10 from me. In terms of advanced character customization it was one step behind DA:O, as it lacked the ability to choose who your hero is (such as what his name is and what his race is) and where he/she comes from. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it allows you to enter the role of Hawke who is a much more complete and fleshed out character than the Grey Warden could ever have been. Although you cannot change your past, you have the utmost freedom to decide who you are in the present. The game features incredible immersion into the role of Hawke and his/her companions who are likewise a much more believable part of your journey. The journey, by the way, is not so much of a trek in space, but more of a travel in time - this is one of the very few BioWare games which take care of the time factor properly. In the end, we have both a story that feels a lot more natural and immersive, and an enormous potential to expand on it.
All in all, two great games that deserve to be played and the BioWare team deserves respect for what they've done with this setting. Thedas has all the markings that will make it a viable and fully-fletched fantasy realm for all sorts of creative products.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum. I just completed my first playthrough of DA2 and loved every bit of it. I am now looking forward to trying out DA:O, which everyone raves about, so I am really excited.
After reading this thread in depth, I felt everyone made really good points; hopefully the people over at Bioware can improve an already great game via the suggestions here.
Here are my two cents on DA2:
DAO = N/A - Sadly, I have yet to experience it. But I guesstimate that it'll be a 9.5!
DA2 = 8.5
Things that need major improvement:
1. Re-use of environments / Lack of "roaming" and exploring capabilities. Top of list, without fail.
I am a HUGE Oblivion fan for these very reasons (love the endless exploration and sense of reward for doing so). I'm very excited for Skyrim which may just blow DA2 out of the water in this main aspect. I cannot get over DA2's re-use of environments... they really let that one slip. RPG fans are notorius for loving massive worlds to run amuck in.
2. I'm a total gamer chick who fell in love with the moody Fenris, so I loved the romance aspect (yes, I'm cheesy like that! Lol). I actually would have loved to see even more interactivity between NPCs, extra interaction (whatever that may entail
), dialogue, more involved cut scenes, even move-in gameplay with chosen partner (okay maybe some cheesy SIMS elements wouldn't hurt, which could lead to even more side quests with your romance choice - afterall, it seems to play a big part in the storyline already...). Overall, was hoping to see way more of Fenris and/or Isabela! Love, love, love the character design there. As I said above, I am a huge Oblivion fan, but NPC interactivity is what was lacking in previous versions of Oblivion (while it was there, it just wasn't satisying the way DA2 was).
3. "Difficulty level" felt uneven. While I played on Normal difficulty, there were times when it was crazy challenging (Abandoned Thiag at Sundermount / Nexum Golem location) and then the majority of the time it was crazy easy (once mastery of Cross class Combos was attained). Fair enough, I could change the difficulty at anytime, very true...but I was hoping that "normal level" would simply be a perfect balance with more challenge thrown in (makes me think of the puzzle elements in the Fade - more of that would be neat). Anyway, minor complaint... an enjoyable game nonetheless!
All in all, I am hooked on the DA series for life now!

DA:O - 9/10 An excellent, epic role playing game. I loved my Warden, and there were so many choices to make.
DA:A - 8.5/10 I experienced very few bugs, and those I did were hardly game breaking.Continued the Warden's Story, liked taking control of the Vigil, upgrading it, choosing how to protect Amaranthine, and again, some major choices, with the end game actually having very good replayability.
DA:2 - 7/10 An enjoyable game in the DA universe, but I wasn't too attached to Hawke, and many side quests felt tacked on as filler. Loved the continuation of the Forgotten Ones storyline. Act 3 was very weak, but act 2 was excellent. Based on Act 2 alone, i would have given the game 9 or 9.5/10 - the story was fantastic, I especially loved the way the Arishok came to respect Hawke. Also: BOOM! Headshot.

I rate it with still have to play it...
After I'd been annoyed as hell with the bugs it had I spent my time on many other games...
Even after the graphics card lag / freeze bug had been fixed... :x
But I guess according to this you could already make a rating....but I won't for I have still to play it.
Just hope this little criticism will help BioWare in the future about preventing way too early releases ;(

So Laidlaw can have a happy mother's day.
I heard she died after seeing how horrible DA2 was.
Also, DAO-9 DA2-5
That is not necessary. There is no excuse for going there.

DAO: 9/10
DA2: 5 /10 (but only just started Act III so maybe it'll improve :feint hope:)
I feel like DA2 is all bones and no flesh, like it was released unfinished, without the extra elements that made DAO stand out. Characters are thinly sketched; locations are repetitive and always the bare minimum; side quests seemed pretty random, just there to pad out the game; the story is ok I guess but where's the extra background elements. It 'feels' like the people who put it together were doing a 'job', not any real interest in it - you know what I mean?
Summary: it's ok-ISH, but disappointing if you'd played DAO and had expectations of the same or better.
I wish I'd believed the reviews and not wasted my money, but now I have spent the money I'm darned well gonna play the damned thing!

Subjectively speaking though, DA2 would be about 1 point higher, seeing how I personally love both games equally.
