DA:O - 9.5
DA2 - 5

Sometimes I think I should give DA2 a higher rating because I did finish it but I just can't, maybe I need a new state of mind when I play it.

You gave DAO a 9.5!? thats is total fanboyism. It doesnt deserve any were closed to that. Dont you even see its MANY flaws? How bout its clunky slow out dated combat, its cleiched story, its use of a voiceless main ncharacter who stares blanky at everyone even during the most desperapte of times? Your either a lier, or your blind.

What can I say, there was practically nothing I hated about Origins. I liked the combat because I played on harder difficulties and the auto-attack allowed me to strategise a bit which I found to be rare in RPGs. I don't have a problem with voiceless protagonists and the different dialogue options were huge so it never really felt like the character couldn't express themselves. If a cliche is executed to perfection why would it bother me?

Why should I like DA2 more than Origins exactly?

First Playthrough
DAO - 9
DA2 - 7

Second Playthrough

DAO - 9.2
DA2 - 7

Third Playthrough

DAO - 9.2
DA2 - 1

Story very badly implemented for DA2
Plot holes DA2
No choices for my character DA2
Dialogue very bad DA2

The reason for the 9 for DAO on first playthrough is because the combat was not balanced correctly so the second playthrough was better for me.

DAO: 9/10
DA2: 7/10

Also, the replay value was great in Origins while lacking considerably in the sequel.

Dragon Age: Origins - 10
One of the best games i have ever played. Apart from the dated graphic there isn't really very many negative things i can say about this masterpiece. While i can't give Dragon Age: Origins credit for opening my eyes for the roleplaying genre (Oblivion did that almost 4 years earlier) Dragon Age: Origins made things like story and interesting characters matter to me in RPGs. It was the game that convinced me that not all RPGs needs to be action oriented. I really liked the tactical aspect of the game even though i have always hated Strategy games. It was also the game that made me give Mass Effect another chance. Needles to say, i love that game almost as much now. Origins stands out because it dared to be ambitious and because it gave many of the fans exactly what they wanted. And for that, it was rewarded.

Dragon Age II - 4
However, if it wasn't from the waves of enemies, bugs and countless corrupted save games i might be inclined to give it 6 or even 7. Dragon Age II definitely had its moments. The potential was there. It could probably have been a great game with longer development time and game testing... well and then there was a few design descisions i didn't like/understand but that is ofcause all a matter of taste.

It's amazing how many people are leaving their ratings with no scale in place. A review score doesn't mean anything without a scale. So, I'll use my favorite review scale, the old EGM 1 to 10 scale where 5 is the average. I'd give Origins a 10 and DA2 a 3.

Hmm, probably a 7 or 8 out of 10 here, though I always find it hard putting a number on things, I prefer scoreless conclusions :P

I am going to judge them as RPG games, as such i am going to give more value to rpg elements over the rest (like improved graphics or cinematics).

Dragon Age: Origins - 8/10
classic rpg with tactical combat, cliche but well presented storyline and interesting setting in the dragon age world. Choices that matters, characters with personality. Great deal of customization options.

Dragon Age II - 3/10
Bastardization of the genre to appeal to other players, which are not interested in rpgs in the first place. Streamlined and linear history, your choices are cosmetic. Combat is action based and relies on waves of endless enemies.

Well considering the thread title is on a scale of 1 to 10 some peeps prolly don't feel the need, bit of a straw splitting there isnt it?

Always find it hard to place a number to something but I guess on a scale of 1 to 10 in comparing the two games I would give DA:O a 9 and DA2 a 4. Its a good game in its own right, but it was a terrible dissapointment for me as a rpg compared to Origins.
