DA:O 10/10 no faults whatsoever, DA2 quite Linear but improved combat and variety of art, inventory improved.. etc, so DA2 gets a 7/10.

DA:O = 8.5/10  (max replayability)

DA:2 = 4/10  (no replayability)*

* far too many criticisms to be put on this post.

I always have a difficult time rating these two games against the other, because I enjoyed playing them both so much....DAO-9 1/2, DA2-7.

It's amazing how many people are leaving their ratings with no scale in place. A review score doesn't mean anything without a scale. So, I'll use my favorite review scale, the old EGM 1 to 10 scale where 5 is the average. I'd give Origins a 10 and DA2 a 3.

Erm...have you read the thread's title?:

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you rate DA2?"

You're welcome.

Both games receive a nine from me. They're not without their own individual flaws, as is the case with all video games. However, I adore both games, and think that they're sublime in their own unique and distinct way.

DAO 8.5-9(PC)
Definately the platform that I enjoyed the game most on, a couple of issues here and there, but didn't impact too badly, good replayability, mods massively extend the game and add even more benefits
DAO 8-8.5 (xbox 360)
As above but, mainly issues with pathing and bugs which require PC mods to fix, precluding console owners from using it, or until the patches come out. Story's overarching theme was a bit cliche, but as it was the first game establishing the world, lore and history of Thedas it didn't really detract from enjoyment.

DA2 4-4.5 (xbox 360)
DA2 is a shoddy rushed mess even on consoles, riddled with numerous bugs, poor art, graphics, design concepts, blatant recycling of environments and trash waves, whilst the story feels cobbled together lacking cohesion and I felt rather indifferent towards most companion's fates

Yep, pretty much.

That's why I write DA2 lacks replayability because in one single playthrough you already visit ten times -at least- each dungeon.

You really have to be a tad masochistic to pull yourself through on a second, or further, playthroughs.

Sometimes I think I should give DA2 a higher rating because I did finish it but I just can't, maybe I need a new state of mind when I play it.

You gave DAO a 9.5!? thats is total fanboyism. It doesnt deserve any were closed to that. Dont you even see its MANY flaws? How bout its clunky slow out dated combat, its cleiched story, its use of a voiceless main ncharacter who stares blanky at everyone even during the most desperapte of times? Your either a lier, or your blind.

Combat was not slow in Origins, it simply had actual animations. Furthermore, it was not faster in DA2, simply jerky and ackward to look at. Looked more like a set of still pictures rotated in rapid succession. The enemies' ability to knockback any non-warrior with their auto-attack could make fights unbearable at times. Hard to fill like a Spartan while being made helpless by Random Ninja #670's auto-attack, especially when random ninja is a fellow rogue AND you can't return the favor. Funny how the FIVE SECOND LONG knockbacks is the only thing that got proper animations.

DA:O protagonist did have a voice: MINE.  I don't need some douchbag with a sissy accent's voice that only works with a caucasian pretty boy's face. If you doing to have a protagonist voice acted it should at least be a neutral voice.

A cliched stroy does not make a bad story. I prefer cliche to non-existent. The entire 1st Act's "story" is "get da money". It's riveting conclusion? "Got da money". Ignore the red lyrium, the secrets of the ancient thaig. It was the derelict reaper all over again. Nothing was learned from it. And the idol served no purpose other than to give us a proper final boss fight. 2nd Act is it's own standalone SHORT story which has no relevance outside of itself. So that's how he became champion? Why do I care about his title? Do we really need an entire Act just to establish why he is called the Champion. And the 3rd act has no story. It's business as usual and then Anders does his thing out of the blue and the **** hits the fan. There is no build up to this. You simply know via anders quest that something is going to happen, but nothing plotwise actually builds up to a breaking point. Poof!! Out of the blue. Business as usual one second, end of the world the next.  It would be the equivalent of playing two missions in ME1, going back to the Citadel just as Soveriegn attacks and the endgame proceeds from there. Basically, nothing you do means anything. Everything plays out as if you were never even there.

DAO: 9,5
DA2:  4,5
I really don't like the most of the changes and it has no replay value at all since all my decisions have no true impact I can feel. And I think the story and charcters are too flat...:pinched:

DA2- 4 to 5
I can't bring myself to replay it and go through the same maps again, considering that all you did for the first playthrough.

First Playthrough:
DAO: 9.5.
DA2: 7

Replays:
DAO: 8.5
DA2: 4 or 5. DA2 is the only bioware game that I've only done two playthroughs on.

I'm curious, if DA:O had no faults whatsoever, then how could DA2 improve it's combat..? You can't really improve on perfect which is what 10/10 is.

As for the topic...

DA:O = 8
DA2 on it's own = 5 (as in completely average)
DA2 as a sequel to DA:O = 3 (it's just a -ing insult)

You do realise how utterly ridiculous you sound, don't you? I find it ironic that many of your replies have the same strain of blind zeal that one would associate with "fanboyism" in your attempts to perpetuate the fantasy, that those who rate DAO highly or higher than the sequel, are liars and as such delude yourself into believing that DA2 has not, figuratively "faceplanted" in its attempt to appeal to a percieved audience which was not interested.

I hate numerical scores. They give people an easy way out of providing any real critique, pointing to a bunch of thoroughly inconsequential digits instead.

So let me point to mine:

Origins: Enjoyable, lengthy, but rather bereft of identity.
7/10 on this scale.

DA2: Clearly could have used another six months or more to squeeze out all of its inherent potential, but as is, an improvement on Origins in both theme and presentation.
8/10.

DA2 - 3/10

The DA2 user reviews on Metacritic average to 4/10, which seems about right. It's appalling how badly the so-called gaming critics pandered to Bioware.

DA:O => 8/10

- a few plot holes
- weird 2 handed combat (aka useless)
- bland characters
- stupid Oghren

DA:RtP => 2/10
- all-bi approach
- plot holes big enough to drive a truck through
- repetitive, uninspired combat
- terrible, terrible JRPG art style
- little to no real choices in the story
- retarded combat speed
- sexual harassing Anders
- no interesting LI for lawful straight male gamers
- Mike Laidlaw insulting former fans
- no toolset

I could go on for hours.
