Most of us loved Origins and Awakening..Bioware made another Epic game on a different setting (thedas) mind you apart from the forgotten realms which the community greatly accepted. I am getting tired of people whinning and complaining about why DA:2 is a complete bust etc., I am one of many that got really frustrated about the release of 1.01 patch for the xbox 360, but guys BIoware did delivered story-wise.

Yeah, the naughty corrupting relic you find in a cave drives someone in a position of power crazy and you have to take them and their army down with a handful of characters is totally original *laugh*

Zealots of a another faith and way of life trying to oppress and convert others and a handful of friends win against them is totally unheard of *hah*

Was there a another plot? I think I'm forgetting something...

All the little subplots were like short stories that didn't have any value or depth.

At least in the meaning of the phrase not related to Adult content, rather for those of developed intellect.

However saying DA:2 is immature is offensive, I like the game.
I find faults in it, but there are few immature moments in it I've found.

Good for you. But don't take offence, just open your eyes.

People are exploding balloons if you wave a pin at them, rogues are like leaping leprechauns (in fact warriors too), the whole cartoonyness of it all, the interface, all the dumbing down and hand-holding bluntly and entertainingly articulated by Dariuszp (and others over the past weeks).

The audience who would react to 'button awesome!' and the way it was said was immature.

The immaturity is eye-staggeringly blantant and shameless in this '18' game - because it's actually aimed at everyone under that age - so apart from simplification, sorry, streamlining - side-boobs are banned, sex is way toned-down, language is moderated - not that this would break the game, but it's all to prevent the parents from writing to congress. EA/BW are absolute hypocrites in regard to the rating of the game.

Nothing wrong with adults playing Mario or Pokemon, but the reason why the haters are angry is that they've had one of the few decent mature(ish) games taken away from them, mixed in the blander and the goo handed back for them to suck on.

And until Witcher 2 is released then myself and others who've been Bioware fans for longer and stronger than most DA2 lovers (who ratio about 3 in 10 looking at the Amazon UK reviews) (note I say most not all - but second childhood does sometimes set in early), will take out our frustration here in the hope that the weight of evidence will eventually sink in at EA and with Mike Laidlaw and we will be able to come back.

The weird thing is when I was a child and teenager I could spot this kind of immature guff a mile away and wanted nothing to do with it. If you're going to do a He Man film, don't launch from a base of Blade Runner fans.

This is why staying neutral puts you in a position to get ****** over by both sides.
You make a reasonable assumption, not formed with any emotional or based on loyalty to any one brand..
Then you get rail roaded as an idiot for not screaming I'm pro / anti what ******* ever the two groups are screaming about.

In the last two days I've had DA:2 / bioware fans yell at me for being a snob and not liking every single detail about the game.

Then I've had the DA:2 haters scream at me for being idiotic and immature, for not hating everything about DA:2.

This is not me taking offense, rather thinking why such agressive posting towards someone who has no strong opinions against you?
Is it due to those showing some reason or tolerence being percieved as weak willed and easy to control?

I've played the witcher, I've loved the witcher my post was pro witcher.
I've played BG, Torment and every other RPG on release for years, never deviating or quiting even now.
Every forum I've been on I've expounded the witcher and CDProjekt as examples of greatness in the genre.
Most postings on DA:2 I've been critical of many things of it, and wondering the reasons behind them.
Including those you used as an example.

Your post was just aimed at being agressive to someone you believed did not have your experience? love? loyalty?.. god knows what.
When in fact you PO someone who if pressed to take a side would go for DA:O in every aspect if forced.

Same boat here. I have been called an PC elitistist snob who doesn't understand, and I have been told I like too many things about DA2 (and yes, there were some).  Just voice you opinion anyway, you have that right. Most people here (whether they fall on one side or the other are just fantastic and agree to disagree. I will say this, BioWare has some of the best, and more intelligent fans).

Which version of bladerunner, erynnar? ;)

And I agree with him as well. Dunno why sex and such is such a 'taboo' down in the states. People in Europe seem to handle it well, up here in Canada, where I am living (meaning the town and people etc), it isn't that big of a deal.

Welcome to the forums. I know, it sucks.

Regarding the "immaturity" of DA2, while there are aspects that are over the top and appropriately "awesome" (mostly gameplay details), I fail to see how one could label DA2 as an immature game overall or one aimed at kids. The story alone neglects that point.

Pfffft! You have to ask? Director's Cut of course...oh, oops no flame wars please! Don't get this link locked because of me!:D

UGH don't get me started on Americans and our immature stupidity over nudity and sex. I lived in Europe and I much prefer their adult way of handling both topics. Americans as a culture tend to ack like a bunch of thirteen year olds having wet dreams and sex fantasies while prentending it isn't happening and we aren't growing up.

Sadly that's a mentality that prevails in the US. I've never understood it. A breast is offensive yet a decapitation is not...

Then again, considering how a woman once sued Janet Jackson for exposing a nipple at the Super Bowl, claiming how the incident "traumatized" her... it's probably not surprising that devs want to avoid those scenarios.

Yes, sex, best thing in the world between consenting adults... Violence, the worst...

Never understood how the first could ever be considered more offensive than the second. Happy to see though, that many creative Americans share this view *I'm looking at you Erynnar & Zjarcal*. Hope for the USA yet!

PS I has Whitcher 2 on pre-order!

I hear you.   I, at the moment, am firmly in the middle.  I enjoyed (and am still enjoying) the game for *what it is*.  I have also made no secret of the areas I personally felt it was lacking, and why and where I was disappointed.  I don't get hatemail, but I suppose being neutral is not terribly interesting.  I love DA and games enough in general to not close to my eyes to the problems, but don't allow all the problems deny the game its positives either.  Wow, if that makes me radical, so be it.  =)  Diplomacy is 80% of my approach, simply because I have manners.  Not because I don't have opinions one way or the other. I just don't feel attacking something needlessly is necessary to be able to articulate my opinion.  *shrugs*    I am human however, and have made a few mistakes in that regard when my snark button has been pressed. :)

Well, I like the Witcher and the new one looks like it might be good.  I don't personally think liking one game, even adamantly to the point of excess means you can't play other games.  i consider it an open-marriage of sorts with the game franchises I know and love.  lol  Why have to choose??  Quality in the gaming world, and CHOICE amongst quality only serves to elevate the whole genre!  Good here, good there -- competition helps make people want to get better.  Nothing wrong with that.

I *did* dislike immensely certain parts of DA2.  I also liked certain parts really well, and a good deal of my disappointment comes because those parts I didn't like, I feel let down the rest of the game.  But, I also didn't hate it and am willing to hope for a great sequel.     Liking something doesn't mean being blind to its flaws any more than seeing more than one great game in the world means you aren't a *good* and *loyal* fan.

In my world, loyalty comes with a side dose of honesty, or I simply don't believe in it.

As to hating the game, I don't. Just splendid in it's mediocrity, OP.

And thanks for the compliments on my take on sex being one of the best things about being human (aside from the dark side like rape) and murder being the worst.  I never understood our culture glossing and glorifiying violence and assuming kids are mature enough for that, but show a little nipple and it's the end of the world. END OF THE WORLD I tells ya!:pinched::blink:=]

Sex cards exist in real life it's called money. Those cards are used for prostitutes. People who complain about sex cards fail to see the fact we actually have them in real life too, you can even buy sex cards for your girlfriend/boyfriend as fun items where each card entitles you to a night of passion as a gimmick fun approach activity. The people bashing sex cards are farting in a hurricane imo as far as their argument goes.

Directors cut? Really? Seriously? Pfft! (just joking lol, I like the DC best)

The only problem I have with nudity is hiding a boner if im wearing swimming trunks.

Always found it funny that the US is fine with promoting blood, violence and gore, but when it comes to SEX it violates an unwriitten law that still holds power even to this day.

Off topic: Directors cut of Bladerunner is by far one of the finest pieces of intelligent Sci-Fi.

@ZJarcal cheers for the welcome, very thoughtful,
I thought FO fans could be the most myopic in their original vs 3+ till now.
Glad to be proven wrong, oh well a good fight is a good fight I've always felt.

@Erynnar again thanks, and the posts you make are thoughtful and considered.
On this issue they do sum up the feeling of many.

I dislike nudity in games; do not require virtual stimulation. I do not like excess violence in games; turn off Gore options whenever possible. Neither inclusions define maturity; both seem rather immature to me.  And I do not like Bladerunner (though I have a copy); prefer Alien.

Wow, I disagree immensely.

First off, nudity, graphic violence and profanity, in and of themselves, are nether mature or immature.  It's how they're used/incorporated into a medium that  determines whether they're mature or immature.

And that said, when  done right,  they're all great, and they matter.  They add both realism and beleivability in a video game.

Premise is flawed.

As I play and enjoy RPG's and liked this game as a CRPG, and do not play Action/ Adventure games, and still enjoyed this game, it would seem the logic is off a tad.

Guess that is why many stay to chat....
