Canon LI is a bad idea... i don;t think people would appreciate having a certain character forced onto them randomly...

All of these facts, while important, do not make her the canon LI. They just make her one of the most important characters in this portion of the Mass Effect story. She's canon for my Shepard, but I wouldn't go forcing her on anyone else.

ETA: All seriousness aside, since Shepard can actually die in ME2 and Liara can't at any point, she's clearly the protagonist of Mass Effect!

I was thinking squaddies, but sure! It would be rather dramatic if Joker sacrificed himself to end the Reaper threat. I'm all for him being the hero of the galaxy.

Seriously, though Cannon LI is not exist despite how much BioWare praise certain character with her own importance's role, DLC and comic books(You know who i'm talking about...). I think it's depend on people's opinion still...If they favorite with certain character that "character" is Cannon LI to them, so saying who are the Cannon LI will led to endless argument.

The Normandy is the real hero, because it blasted Sovereign into scrap metal, died and came back to life on ME2, and it is also a love interest, except not for you, because Joker got there first.

There's no canon, but Liara is definitely devs favourite. She is available for both genders, she cannot die no matter how strong you might wish it, she is the only one with whom Shep is discussing future life and her romance is the best in both games (and I've tried them all). Which is sad, because Liara is not my favourite character, she is even not in the top 10 for me.

Eh people can say "There is no Canon", but it is not inconceivable to consider. A lot of franchises get adapted into other, less interactive mediums. And if Mass Effect takes that route as so many others have, they'll need to have a Canon LI.

So I'd assume someone in Bioware has considered it.

I'd think Liara is their preferred ME1 love interest, but I guess you can say Ashley as well.

I just said Liara because, so far, she seems to have gotten most of BioWare's attention, of all the other love interests.

Then that would apply to the adaptation, and the adaptation only.  It wouldn't establish some sort of pan-ME canon.

No smartass the artwork. Play the game also. A if Mass Effect were a movie you know that the male lead would end up with the Ashley or Miranda  not some bald buld creature like Lara.

Play both games and you will understand . The only LI in ME 2 that feeels natural for male shepard is Miranda simple as that . In 1 it was ashaley . Liara is LI but that is nothing more than fan service
