No smartass the artwork. Play the game also. A if Mass Effect were a movie you know that the male lead would end up with the Ashley and Miranda not some bald buld creature like Lara.
I don't know that, and it's not a movie so....irrelevant. So is promotional/cover artwork BTW (unless of course you'd like to assume "canon" ME1 MShep looks only vaguely like the "canon" ME2 MShep). All that matters is what Bioware does with the story, and they are careful to avoid establishing things like this. The only choice they've stepped on thus far is the Anderson/Udina one, and even then it remains to be seen whether or not they're going to outright ignore it. They won't even specify Shep's sex in the comics and novels, much less who Shep had sex with. I mean, if Ash truly were ME1 canon, why is she automatically not assumed to have been the LI for a default ME2 MShep? Why is she so de-emphasized in the male version of the PS3 Genesis comic?

Lara would be a very poor choice for an LI.A bald blue whatever. Ashley and Miranda are the cannon of Mass Effect 1-2.
And this is based on what? Because you said so?
Play both games and you will understand . The only LI in ME 2 that feeels natural for male shepard is Miranda simple as that . In 1 it was ashaley . Liara is LI but that is nothing more than fan service

As if I haven't already played them. Makes sense to you =/= only thing that makes sense. That's called "personal preference".

Saying that anyone is a canon LI is incorrect. Not unless Bioware actually states otherwise.

Cannon? You meant to say "canon" LI, right? Anyway, no, that's not a universal fact either, which I didn't say it was in any way. What I'm saying is that there is no canon LI, as it is for the player to decide who they choose to romance throughout the trilogy. His preference is clearly Miranda, and romancing her feels natural to him, that's all well and fine but it is his opinion not a general fact.Eiliestl wrote...

Here you have the cannon LI.
Reliable, sturdy, and never lets you down, even if a bit slow sometimes. But when fired up, well, amazingly passionate!
But anyways, there's no such thing as canon with the ME trilogy, all other media carefully avoids these questions for this very reason.
So in a pure What If? situation, let's see who would be:
The alien romances are out of the question because they are lore-incosistent with ME1 and because the Romance in an adventure story is always there since the beginning. That leaves Ash, Kaidan or Liara. Considering the LI should be one of the most developed characters along with the main character, it leaves Ash or Kaidan. As the commercial face is male, we are pretty safe to say if there would be a canon story, Shepard would be male.
Therefore it would be Ashley Williams.
But again, there's no canon here.
edit: Aww, Ryzaki beat me.

Also, an argument could be made for Ashley, because she shows up on ME1's cover and there is a ME3 screenshot of she and Shepard holding hands.
