okei..  just read a thread regarding a request for new classes for da3 but although it sounds cool, i feel it's mostly improbable and might be a little too "unlike" dragon age. but anyway, i mean no offense to people who would like new classes it's just me and i probably would like more unique "specialization" rather than class.

ANYWAY - that wasnt the topic. that thread just gave me an idea. so here it goes:

we all know that DA2 showed how Hawke sort of ignited the fire of war and although we'r still not clear as to what DA3 is all about or if it is a war, who are involved.. but in place of the Race or Origin selection, maybe a "Faction" selection would be a good idea. You could choose your class, (hopefully race as well) then you could choose which faction you are from or are supporting) Then that would give the players the diversity everyone craves and would dramatically increase replayability of the game. Think of the playthroughs and diversity of decisions.. XD plus, if you choose an allegiance to a certain faction, doesnt mean you couldnt change through the course of the game, right?

so, what do you guys think of this? :) would love to hear people's opinions Image IPB

That's an interesting idea, but siding with factions seems like something that would be better to do deeper in the game, as opposed to before you really start.

It could be difficult to decide which faction to choose before you know enough about them. Even if the factions are heavily based on existing DA lore, it could still be confusing to newcomers who don't know the lore. And reading a description about the faction in order to choose which one you like best before the game proper begins is a bit of a boring way to go about it.

But, if done well, it could be fun.

I ♥ the idea, but what biomar said is true. At the start would be confusing. Later in the game choosing to go to a faction would be awesome.

i get your points. i guess i just love the 'origins' selection part in DA:O coz right off the bat, u get to experience the differences from your first playthrough. but you guys are right, if for some reason they put that it, then it's more kind of the original origin (no pun) selection. not really a faction choice coz as much as possible you're gona side with the place you came from at the start. XD

imagine (if the Qunari is any part of any war) to be able to be "whatsatheycallitwhenyouturntothe beliefsoftheQun" at any part of the game and see the game in the POV and beliefs of the QUN. or on the other hand, a templar who chose to change sides and help the Circle and see things in their POV. or Ferelden to Orlais. oh the possibilities and the diversities... XP

I think it's a great idea. I also think it's too much to hope for. lol

It would be even better if you could create YOUR OWN class based faction.

Warrior - Knight's Order [screw the Templars, have your own order]
Mage-  Independent Circle [a circle of Apostates or serve the Chantry]
Rogue- [Be Captain of a ship, form your own Coterie or Brotherhood]

But as I already said, it's too much to hope for at this point.  Nobody at Bioware is listening anymore.  But I do like your idea.

As long as you were given the opportunity to turn against / fall out of favour with your original faction and side with another, I think the idea has promise.

Well it's obvious you mean open factions and not class based.    If you fall out of favor with them then I guess they might hunt you just as the Crows hunt Zevran.  To no success I might add. lol
