Cerberus Network can't remember my login info!

Hey, guys.

Every time I enter Mass Effect 2 I get an error message saying I can't log on to the Cerberus Network. The problem seems to be that the game just doesn't "remember" my login. I have to type in my e-mail and password every time, and sometimes even when I've been playing the game and just exit to the main menu. It's like it doesn't save my login info. Why?

I bought ME2 through steam and I recently reinstalled my system and restored ME2 from steam backup files which I made and burned on DVDs a while back (just so I wouldn't have to waste time downloading it again). I doubt there's anything wrong with the DVDs, because it installed just fine. However, there seems to be a common issue with my steam backup games. When I install games from backup discs, Windows (7 x64) always ask me if the program installed correctly, or if I want to reinstall using recommended settings (whatever that means). So I just click "This program installed correctly." because it did. They all do. They install just fine, and work just fine. The only problem I'm having is ME2 not remembering my login for Cerberus Network. As if it was trying to save to a write protected file or something. This stuff probably have nothing to do with my problem, but I figured I might as well be as thorough as I possibly can in describing what's going on.

Thanks for your time, guys, and I hope someone can help me figure this out. Posted Image

there is a thread a bit further down on the first page of this board. Connection Timeout or something. The Problem is that the game has problems to automatically connect to the servers, so it requires you to re-enter your e-mail and password. I don't think there is a solution yet, if you want you can try to play around with your firewall and antivir program(s). Maybe one of them is causing the issue.

I very much doubt that. I didn't have this issue until recently and nothing has really changed on my computer.

I'm guessing there's some issue on their end at the moment. It's annoying, but luckily you can always log in anyway so it's nothing life threatening.

Same here, worked fine since ME2 release. I've changed nothing at all on my end, connection fails when I launch the game, and I've to enter e-mail/password. It's just that ways since a few days. It's annoying, and most likely an error on EA's end.

Same here.. and I bought ME2 when it first came out on steam, never had this issue till now.

I suspect it's something to do with EA's server's as at around the same time I started having the same issue with both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2..have to constantly re-log into EA server's whenever I start either game (it appears to log in fine when starting the game, but whenever I try and load a game, start a new character, etc.. I immediately loose connection and have to reconnect)

A few people have had this problem, especially since "Arrival" was released. I dont seem to be affected by it, and I dont have Arrival, but this also could be due to me being in Australia, and thus demand on local server resources would be less than what it is in Nth America.
If you dont have Arrival, and are suffering the problem, then it would seem to indicate its to do with server resources in your local area.
If you do have Arrival, try a quick cut/paste of the Arrival DLC to another directory, fire up ME2 and see if you still have the login problem. If it doesnt occur, it would indicate something is wrong in the DLC which is preventing the autologin from occurring. The directory you want is Mass Effect 2/Biogame/DLC/DLC_EXP_Part02.

@ Bogsnot1, great name by the way... Australian as well and EAs login servers have been cactus for a number of days for me (previously zero issues)... doesn't matter if it is ME2, DA:O or DA2, none of them will log in (my system as not changed at all).

Strange. I tested it out earlier today, about noon, and had no problems connecting or remembering my login credentials. I must be blessed. That, or my PC is too scared to play up as it knows it will get open heart surgery if it does.

Just to clarify,
The problem isn't that one can't log in but it doesn't connect unless you manually enter you login info. It used to log you into the cerberus network automatically when you launched the game

Have the same issue with both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. Have to at times manually log in due to "connection time out", while some weeks ago it worked just fine.

Same problem here! Was this caused by the recent bioware site maintenance ? Come on Bioware - where is the explanation! It's more than coincidence that suddenly everyone starts getting the same problem

You are all barking up the wrong tree if you expect Bioware to help out on these forums.
These forums are for user to user support, EA provides the official support. You will need to take itup with them.

Sorry.
Ok, has any other PLAYER/USER been able to fix this or get an answer from EA.

There is currently a bug with the servers where it will not allow you to automatically login once you select that option under Extras -> Options -> Online -> Auto login to EA servers.
For some reason, it times out, but it will log you in if you manually punch in the details each time.
Another forumite seemd to solve the problem himself with some careful work;

Had this problem. Solved it by re-applying the 1.02 update manually, going in and changing the auto login settings, and resetting the coalesced.ini to default. Only make changes one at a time, you can find the ones that cause problems.
