Perhaps I am missing something, but where is the value in purchasing the digital deluxe version over the standard downloadable version of the game?  At $65, it is $15 more expensive than the standard version yet only comes with an additional  $7 DLC plus a few items.  Am I correct in thinking that we end up paying $8 for three pieces of equipment?

If you are posting this, odds are DDE isnt for you :)

Its a top-of-the-market-fanboy play not a value play.

No, the stuff in the digital edition is not worth $15. Its worth maybe $7 to 10 or so if you judge by what the various components cost and thier availability otherwise.

Some of us want everything. Right out of the gate. Right now.

And for those of us who are willing to convert that to rewarding the developer directly with some extra money, DDE exists. It may not be the right choice for you.

It includes CD quality soundtrack, those items, and some wallpapers (unknown if they are exclusive or not). So, no, not $8 for those three pieces of equipment.

There is none. EA has not grasped the concept of digital downloading being cheaper for them and thus, should be for the consumer as well. I just ended up ordering the physical CE from EA seeing as the only thing you don't get in the package is the Warden’s Keep DLC which is $7 on the website. Essentially, you pay $15 for Warden’s Keep by getting the downloaded version. :\\

The soundtrack is easily worth $8 to me.

If an OST is not worth that much to you, pass on the DDE.

Ha, true.  At least your honest about your enthusiasm.  OK the digital sound may or may not be worth a little extra money, but I will roll my eyes at the wallpaper hehe.    ^_^

Yeah I picked up DDE from Steam when it was briefly $55. Otherwise I really wouldn't have bothered.

Same here. I originally ordered the DDE from D2D before the price of Warden's Keep was releaed; I was a bit miffed to find out I could get everything in the DDE for less than the price of the DDE. So I jumped ship and got myself a little discount to boot.

I also, think that the DDE is overpriced ( if you pay the full price, some vouchers are taking 25% off if, you can find them ) given that, TSP is with the SE. but, you do get all the DLC from the start with DDE which is nice.

I expect more DLC to be available soon , ( this is just the start !).....Bioware are just covering themselves for the secondhand market as TSP & WK are not part of the main game so, future 2nd users will have to buy them off the website, as will we all in the future.

I usually buy the boxed version for the manual..........but, no news yet of this one having a hard copy, looks likely it's a PDF on the disk with a quick start leaflet !

Same I'd bought it as soon as I saw the price was $55, if you asked me I got a steal.

Companies really need to start learning the lessons ... if you are going to charge more for digital downloads, there better be something in it to justify the price difference between regular and collector (deluxe) editions. There is a large difference in price on a digital download vs a boxed game. That equates to extra profit to begin with and to further inflict abuse with the CE versions which come with nothing but air when digital, they really need to adjust pricing and/or bundle some other forms of perks to justify the pricing.

If this was *any* company other then BioWare, I would not be donating the extra money for nothing but hey, it *is* BioWare and I want them to stay in business and make a sequel!

Assuming you don't see a lot of value in the behind the scenes, wallpaper, digital soundtracks, etc. Depends on you. A full soundtrack to this game could be $15 alone.

All this pricing debate will be fogotten once the game has been launched..........I expect there will be some other deals in place for the christmas market
