Yeah, I should poinjt out I'm a little more harsh than I should be with Bg since I loved BG when I first played it and it'll always a 'soft spot' in my gaming heart since it was my first BIO game but it just doesn't hold up as much (like say BG2).
I think a good comparison is to what the original Half-Life was for first person shooters. I still occasionally play it for nostalgia reasons/enjoyment and the game was extremely influential, but it simply hasn't aged well in comparison to other first person shooters out there.
Edit: I should also point out that it is not simply an issue of age. Original Planescape/BG2 came out some time ago, yet I still think those games hold up quite well even against more recent titles.

let it be known that i prefer to have a silent protaganist i created, then some talking one.
Shepard was awesome don't get me wrong, Hawk..........kinda meh to be, mostly cause i hated having to be a human when there are other sentient races in society.

It would be quite interesting to play a half human with you being able to pick your demon heritage and thus bonus powers.

You doc reate your own character much like DA series. You just don't choose your history.

"Good lord, Bioware have already been focusing on the actiony, button-mashing console games even before EA came along. Why do we act all blame EA when it's obvious that Bioware had already several attempts in creating a more action-oriented game? For goodness sake, I can't even create my OWN character."
In all seriousness, give JE2 to the original JE lead designer Laidlaw and choose another lead designer for DA. In that case, everyone is happy and Bioware has DA which will appeal to the hardcore market, JE to the button-mashing action crowd, and ME to the shooter fans.

Making a character is more than just appearance.
"Jade Empire was Bioware's worst ever RPG with 89/100 metacritic score."
Sonic was rated worse and it's turn absed. Many of the expansions inclyuding Awakenings was rated worse. Ratings aside, BG1 and KOTOR are both FAR worse than JE. And, the DAs and MEs aren't any better role-playing wise despite JE being an action rpg (much like ME series). JE had some of the best characters ever in a BIO game, some awesome quests, and a top nttch story. You either liked the action combat or you didn't. *shrug*
JE > KOTOR
No contest.

The Dragon Age games are much better than Jade Empire. Bioware should concentrate on the DA franchise, there is so much potential in this series.

I'm saying Bioware already have a perfectly acceptable unique action RPG IP that they can develop rather than turning DA into an action RPG.
I'm not asking you to like JE, just to see the wisdom in this idea and how it would benefit all parties because right now different people want different things from DA due to al these changes.

Not doubt it would contain a new cast of characters when the best thing about JE were the characters. They were all awesome, likable characters. In JE2 BioWare would probably swap them for a bunch of unintersting, potty-mouth, sex-obsessed, back-stabbing psycho a-holes.

Here is an added thought: Jade Empire actually was an action RPG. DA II is a horrible hybrid between action RPG and CRPG. It mixes elements of both and annoyes the fans of both genres.
Personnally, I like both types of games: I enjoyed the fast paced button meshing combat of JE and the slower, tactical combat in DAO. I might have liked the combat in DA II, too. If not for the countless enemy waves and the endless supply of HP of bosses. It made what was supposed to be exciting into boring grinding matches.
Also, JE had a great story and very enjoyable companions (the baker was perhaps the most unusual I have ever seen).
So yes, please make JE2.
But please don't dump Mike Laidlaw on it. As sympathetic as he comes across, a lead designer who doesn't stop morronic ideas like junk items deserves to get fired!
