There's only one way to settle this, create a new rank of Maximum Commander. :police:

May I ask why Shepard needs a promotion, other than to outshine other people?

He might actually be demoted for everything he did.

To outshine other people, as well as some type of reward for saving the galaxy a few times. No biggie

Nah, Lieutenant Shepard? Doesn't sound as catchy.

Spectres can't be judged by anyone but the Council. If Shepard is being judged by the Alliance at the beginning of ME3 then, logically, he can't be a Spectre.

Aren't people forgetting that the Alliance is now a member of the Council? If anything they should be allowed to try one of their only Spectres and have the full support of the other Council members to do it.

I doubt shep's spectre status makes much difference, he's probably consisered rogue

FORGET PROMOTIONS!!!

1. I want a giant statue if myself on the Presidium made of SOLID GOLD
2. I want a private garden world planet for me & my LI
3. I want the Galaxy to to unite under my name
4. I want Earth to be renamed Shepard's Pad
5. I want the Normandy to be upgraded into my private BATTLESHIP
6. I want my own religious cult that worships me as a god
7. I want all species to have a representative on the council
8. I WANT A T-SHIRT THAT SAYS I SAVED THE GALAXY AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS ****TY T-SHIRT

Knowing my luck, Shep will only get the last one

Because he/she saved the galaxy twice and was denied a gold star on both occassions.  Reparations must be made.

As stated before throughout the thread, Shepard is a Lt. Cmdr as of now. He can be promoted to a full commander and he would remain, you guessed it! Commander Shepard

This popped in my mind too, when Hackett told Shepard to wear his/her dress blues.

It got me wondering, since we were given a choice to accept/decline reinstatement, if BW is even going to take into account what we chose.

They already call him only "commander Shepard" so i don't really care if he is Lt.Cmdr or Commander B)
I just don't want something like : commodore / Rear-Admiral / Vice-Admiral / Admiral. :P

I wanted him to be civillian, or paramillitary rather, which would make him "Captain" Shepard
due to his being the CO of the Normandy

He was made a Spectre the first time, which is better than any promotion, and he did the second mission in secret.

thinking about it yes he / she deserves a promotion but I do not think shepherd will get neither a promotion or demotion just stay where shepherd currently ranked.

This is because the line commander shepherd is too iconic I doubt they will change that for ME3.

but you never know you could get a promotion at the end of ME3 if certain things happen of course

We were made a Spectre before we saved the galaxy that doesn't count.  Also you didn't do the mission in secret, at least I didn't.  I went to the Council and asked them to help they simply wouldn't.  Reminds me of a friend who refused to help me move when I asked and then, in the company of other friends, acted surprised to hear I'd moved.

In short; I demand my gold star dammit.

Again, if you want your stupid promotion, just make sure to keep your Spectre status. It's better than any promotion out there.

Your friend is a jerk!

OT: Hear hear! We want a gold star, and we want it now!

Heck, now I hope we have an option for Shepard to wear official Spectre armor for the court martial now :P

Captain Shepard?
General Shepard?
Or some really drawn out title like Lord Colonel Commissar Shepard?

Why the hell do my Shepards need a promotion. All of them were telling an admiral what to do during the invasion of the Citadel.

hmmmm I like the idea of a promotion... kinda pointless with galactic extermination looming, but it could work :)

Captain Shepard.... I like that

Pfffft. Commander is the best naval rank ever. James Bond was a Commander.

It's because it's COMMANDING. It COMMANDS respect. Every one of Shepard's wish will be a COMMAND.

Why do you think we have things called COMMAND and Conquer? Master and COMMANDER? Instead of say, Master and Captain? Hmmm?

My Shepard is going to go to Jerusalem with a red calf to be sacrificed at the site of the Temple of Solomon so s/he can be crowned as The Messiah.

Admiral is the best one.
