I doubt. It would be illegal, BTW.

Why would this be "illegal" when people are already modding numerous *other* DA2 models into DA:O, all without fear of EA's army of lawyers destroying them? And why would this very board have an entire *forum* dedicated to modding?

The problem is not modding per se. But taken ressources from one game and implementing them into another. Those ressources (in this case models and textures from DA 2) are property of Bioware by modding them into DAO you make them accessible to people you haven't acquired a licence to use them (not everyone owns both games).

Transfering ressources from DA 2 to DA II looks comparatively innocent since both games come from the same company, it still might get you into trouble.

I guess modders should be thankful that Bioware/EA seem to let this slide. Perhaps they aren't the devil after all.;)

It's as agrocato says. Taking one asset from one game to another directly violates the standard terms of agreement from games, including DA's O & 2. Some companies might choose to turn a blind eye (specially if the mod somehow requires you to have the textures from the donating game already installed), but others (Bethesda for instance)
are very uptight about it. Whether Bioware/EA actually enforces the prohibition I don't know, but it nevertheless *is* prohibited.

It's not illegal, it's against the EULA. There's nothing legal or illegal about it, and the justice department could care less about your little modding.

Big companies sue little people to force you to defend yourself in court. They know it will get thrown out of court because it's a baseless case. But it's a form of law in itself. The threat of being bullied by the IP owner, not by the government.

This is expressly why there are so many company mergers these days. The cost of legal defense is high and is simply used as a bankrupting tactic.

Being a lawyer pays well.

LOL, Bethesda not only releases its complete tools to modders, they also have a dedicated official forum for mods. There is even a mod that is basically Morrowind redone with Oblivion assets. In short, you don't have a clue what you are babbling about.

To the OP, I don't think such a mod exists, but if Bioware were to actually care for modding in their games it probably could be easily done.

FYI just letting you know.

Ok, what they mean by that. When you extract contents from a game, it's called Ripping. When you take the stufff that you extracted, and use it for a game that it wasnt distributed for, or convert it to work with a game that it wasn't created and shipped with, that's called Porting.
And unless the creator/author of those games have given permission for people to do that with their content/assets, then it is considered to be theft. Or also called an Illegal Port.
Most of the game companies don't give the permission. And most of them get very upset when they find that folks have done a port with their material/assets. There's a few that have, such as the Witcher Game and the STALKER game. But otherwise most of it you just can't port over from one game to another.

In the case of Dragon Age, Specifically DAO and DAA.... DAA is an "expansion". It will not work without the main game installed, and thus does not qualify as a different game. So porting material back and forth with DAO and DAA is considered to be legal, and BioWare doesn't care about it.

You'd mentioned in another thread about the DA toolset being able to open Oblivion files. Thats very interesting. And kinda cool! And while you would be able to use say... DA stuff in Oblivion, or Oblivion stuff in DA.... if the content was created by BioWare or Bethseda, then you would not be able to release that modded content to the public, or share it with others. It would be strictly for your own personal use. ;)

To answer the question about using DA:2 Stuff in DA:O. It's cool with BioWare, far as myself and alot of others know, to port items from DA:2 to DA:O and vice-versa. Cool mod called "Kirkwall Exports/Imports" exists.
