I like when you have Varric, Isabela, and Aveline in the party after you make Donnic and Aveline an item and Isabela gives Varric a raunchy story about Aveline and Donnic's love life. Good times.

Whoever came up with Mother Hawke's fate is one sick puppy I don't want to meet in a dark alley.

Who thinks up stuff like that???

Jesus.

Same person who thought of the broodmother! :D

Anyway, my favorite moment would have to be…DAO cameos. Especially Alistair's. That was very sweet of the devs to toss us a bone!

I cannot pick just one. :P Several from my first (thus far only) playthrough:

-The Qunari mage's suicide/self-execution. Really set the tone for everything Qun-related to follow
-Bethany's death. Ouch :(
-Aveline: "I can fix this."
-The penultimate Hawke-Ari'shok meeting (the last one at the Qunari compound)
-Anders: "...so I removed the option."

I'm pretty sure there's a post from David Gaider somewhere around these forums where he explains that reactions like yours are exactly why he was convinced that story had to happen. ;)

The intro, where u escape and meet the Witch of the Wilds while Varric narrates (and lies) in the beginning. I also enjoyed Isabella's intro, back whn I thought she had at least some form of dignity.

It was all lost after a few conversations wif her

Perhaps the same person who hanged people all over Ferelden in Dragon Age: Origins?  <just guessing>

My favorite quest:  Aveline's romance.
My favorite moment:  When my brother puts petty differences aside to fight with me -- blood's blood after all!

Frankly there are a few, some already posted above.

Last one I had, Anders as a rival after you collect the ingredients.
When he shows that he is barely holding on, full of doubts and Justice shows he is in full charge.

My personal favorite is The Long Road (the quest where you help Aveline hook up with Donnic). I loved the interactions between Hawke, Aveline, Donnic, and especially Isabela.

From Aveline and Isabela taking verbal shots at each other and staring each other down, to Donnic's uneasiness with being asked to meet up with Hawke alone at the bar, to Aveline's obliviousness towards Hawke's flirtations, the quest was simply priceless.

Varric’s solo part where you enter his brother’s mansion. All of a sudden I’m playing Varric solo and he’s superman, two-shotting dozens of enemies. WTF?

Then he is interrupted in his storytelling and admits that’s not exactly how it happened, and I get to play the same part again, full party, and much more difficult. I doubled up with laughter. Tremendous! The best thing about it is it goes on for so long, it really works. You don’t really suspect it’s a joke.

This, and going up sundermount in Act 2 for the first time, not knowing what lurked along the path. Such an epic battle!

All That Remains if only based on the first time I completed it. First time through I thought I had made the wrong decision and mother was dead because I did the wrong thing, I regretted my actions and what I had caused. It was a feeling I haven't gotten from any game in the past ten years, really set the mood for the rest of the game which practically bombards you with dark hopelessness. One of Bioware's most emotional moments possibly ever.

Then of course I discover that she will die no matter what and felt like a massive tool.

The 'Special Service' in the Blooming Rose is my favorite surprise moment of the game but I would say pretty much all banter when I roll around with Aveline and Isabela would be my favorite thing. Those cats have claws.

Another vote for the Ketojan (the Saarebas) killing himself.

The combination of ominous (in that context), uptempo music, cinematic dialogue and the feeling of hurried helplessness as he grimly walks to his self-immolation is one of the great moments in the game.

Also, the conversations with the Arishok were great--my favorite antagonist in the Dragon Age series so far.  While I don't find the Qun personally compelling, I felt the portrayal of it and others' devotion to it in DAII interesting.

I'm sure there's probably one I like more, but the one that comes immediately to mind is Varric's initial depiction of his entrance into Bertrand's manor. The whole time I was thinking, "What? I mean...how? Something's not right." But it wasn't until the end that it hit me.

When I was in the Blooming Rose (very first time) and talked to the madam, her brat ran back and forth through her two times during the conversation. Literally, right through her character model, while she was speaking. So I guess that place is memorable for me, but not exactly in a good way, eh?

My favorite quip was either Isabela talking about Fenris' "magic fisting" or Merrill in the tavern saying Isabela is going to teach her "body shots."

I too think the sequence where you escort the qunari mage was delightfully poignant.

But they also develop a genuine friendship and respect for each other. One of my favorite moments is this exchange:

Aveline: You're right.
Isabela
: About?
Aveline
: About knowing who you are.
Aveline
: I'm the captain of the guard. I'm loyal, strong, and I don't look too bad naked.
Isabela
: Exactly. And if I called you a mannish, awkward, ball-crushing do-gooder, you'd say...?
Aveline
: (Calmly and firmly) Shut up, ****.
Isabela
: That's my girl.

Passing the Bechdel test with flying colors, and making me "aww" at the same time!

Qunari anything.

Magistrate's Orders.

And the whole First Sacrifice line of quests. I liked the detective aspects of it. I wish it went further into the underworld of Kirkwall. And while I love the finish where it turns personal....I almost kind of wish it stayed impersonal to Hawke. A years long serial killer mystery that Hawke solves is a cool idea by itself.

Hawke walks into the throne room with the Arishok's respect. "THAT is respect, bas! Some of you will never know it."

Saarebas from Sheparding Wolves sacrificing himself. Hawke: "Existence is not a choice!" Saarebas: "Existence is the ONLY choice."

Bad comparison.  The Broodmother was demented and horrific, but creative and fit well with the story.  Leandra being beheaded and sewn onto a patchwork zombie might have worked, but when she stood there wobbling awkwardly until you beat the bad guys so she can die in Hawke's arms in an explosion of cliche, somehow retaining her mind and voice, the only question was how that crap survived the morning after the writer sobered up.  I have a very high tolerance for cheesy cliche garbage, but that was so far over the top you'd need a telescope to see it all.

To answer the original question, my favorite was definitely Anders' Chantrybomb.  About frickin' time we went on the offense.
