I find her character and voice actor just bland and boring. She reminds me of too much like Liara and Tali from the Mass Effect series.

I found all her companion quests just plain boring and stupid. She didn't listen to my Hawke about blood magic being evil, I refuse to hand over the piece of mirror thingy and she still end up doing it.

She changes her mind about fixing the mirror almost at the end of Act 3, 6 YEARS LATER from Act 1.

I have no use for her character beside her companion quests and some boss battles requiring a range attacker

I find Isabela more interesting than her. I don't know way, maybe I like bad girls more than good girl (Ashely, Miranda,Morrigan)

I liked Merrill, she stood by her convictions despite everyone being against her. And I enjoyed her voice actress since I'm a fan of Torchwood. Her goal (if she's correct and she's successful) is something that could have an unexpected and transcendent change for the elves of Thedas.

Blood magic isn't evil, considering that without it Thedas wouldn't be able to create Grey Wardens (The Joining is Archdemon blood and darkspawn blood with magic) or a method to destroy the Archdemon and end the Blights that threaten the world (due to the Grey Wardens). Finn uses a harmless blood magic ritual in Witch Hunt and the templars use a form of blood magic with the phylacteries.

That's because everyone is against her and she gives up on her goal of helping the Dalish elves restore a part of Arlathan, since she doesn't have the tool and no one is in her corner. I helped her because it was no different than The Warden asking his companions to aid him in dangerous ventures, even if they disagreed (like Sten does if he is taken to Haven) or Hawke when he asks two companions to go with him at the end of Act I.

I think Isabella is an interesting character, and she likes Merrill.

i liked the mirror as a story device, i thought it helped flesh out the true nature of blood mages as mages tempted not always out of insanity but because they think they know what they're doing and that blood magic can be a good thing

Bro, seriously, there are plenty of threads on this topic.

As for why I like her...I don't know, I seem to alternate on LI archetypes. It's been Ashley --> Tali --> Morrigan --> Merrill for me. And before that, Viconia and Aribeth and Bastila (not that there were a lot of other options on those last two).

What is the big deal with Merrill that she has her own thread for just these sorts of topics? Crazy, right?

I've never understood how you can't like Merrill.

The people in the Merrill thread are crazy. True fact.

Anyways, Merrill is sweet, bashful, intelligent, principled, socially clumsy, accepting of everyone, has a wonderful accent, loves with all her heart, and has pretty eyes.

If you find Merrill useless as a character, you clearly haven't specced her the right way.

Go learn some guides.

And pretty ears, pretty nose, pretty mouth, pretty hands, pretty feet, pretty neck, pretty scarf...

Man, OP, what is WRONG with you? There are help phones for these kinds of things, you know. You're not alone (Well, you are, but I'm trying to comfort you).

If she was really that bland and boring you would not have started yet another thread for her. I think she is sweet and fun to have in the party and her story arc is thought provoking.

While I like Merrill, she's not my favorite character or romance. I would not label myself a 'Merrillfan.'

She's not my favorite character, nor do I expect her to be my favorite romance once I romance Isabela. But, she is my favorite character who has a romance. If that makes sense.

But, the Merrill thread is your thread. Even if you wouldn't label yourself a Merrill fan, simple circumstances would.

Is there such a difference between a Merrill fan and a Merrillfan? So much disparity for lack of a space.

I'm not sure. If there is a distinction, I'm not sure even I'd label myself a Merrillfan.

I thought everypony loved Merrill? I'm a bit shocked. I'll think about how awesome Merrill is for a while and see if I can come up with some answers.

No, your opinion is wrong.

Only the opinions of those who like her are right. Opinions.
