The Merrill Thread is nowhere near the posting force of the "Thousand Nations of the Talimance Empire". But as for the OP's Liara and Tali connection, I banged all of them. With no shame, and with multiple Sheps. The same with Merrill and my Hawkes.

They are too sweet and adorable not to contaminate with human sexuality.

You are a heretic! Burn with the rest of them for your lack of love for Merrill!

She's thrilled when Isabela returns, horrified that you'd sell Fenris, and the only one who'll defend Anders, despite the last two being quite cruel to her.

She'll kick you out of the house in anger and then apologize to you. You can accept someone and still be angry with them at times.

Well, if she gets angry and doesn't want to see you when you disagree with her, and is willing to see you when you don't disagree with her (and only as long as you don't disagree) then i wouldn't really call it universal acceptance. Acceptance of conformity, maybe. That she may apologize for it (but still keeps doing it) doesn't exactly change it, either.

You've got to love Merrill. She is the DA equivalent of a nerdy science-oriented grad student. Living on the cheap in the slums, no food in the house, working obsessively on her research, doesn't know what a brothel is for or what body shots are... My god the whole thing is too brilliant, it truly is.

She only kicks you out of her house once, so, no, she doesn't keep doing it.  And it's her house.  And you've just tried to screw up the most important thing in her life.

Silence! I don't even know who Garrus is, and Morrigan died entering her mirror, now bow down to Merrill.
Or on Merrill...

I find her character and voice actor just bland and boring. She reminds me of too much like Liara and Tali from the Mass Effect series.

I found all her companion quests just plain boring and stupid. She didn't listen to my Hawke about blood magic being evil, I refuse to hand over the piece of mirror thingy and she still end up doing it.

She changes her mind about fixing the mirror almost at the end of Act 3, 6 YEARS LATER from Act 1.

I have no use for her character beside her companion quests and some boss battles requiring a range attacker.

I agree with you.

I really don't get the Merrill hate. I usually go down the friendship path with Merrill because I think she's right about the mirror and blood magic, this time I'm going rivalry and I like that she stands up to Hawke.

Merrill is really powerful, why would anyone not want her on their team? (I haven't played nightmare so I can't say how good she is there) I think some people might build her wrong, when my mam played I made her respec Merrill with a higher constitution for blood magic because she'd put too many points into willpower. Also if you don't take Merrill out you miss out on her banter which imo is some of the best in the game.

No, us Merrill fans are actually normal while the Talimancers are degenerate lunatics. It's an insult to us to even be compared to that hive of scum and villiany.

Naw, I don't think that's true. Ask a lot of people who dig Merrill and they'll tell you a rivalry plays out even better than a friendship. That's definitely what I think. It's the same thing with Fenris: even if you disagree with his view of mages you can still like him as a character and gain a full understanding of who he is as the game progresses.

It makes it harder to like him. That you like her standing up for herself is depending on if you think that it is awfully dumb or not.

Ask people that don't like her or are indifferent instead.

I wouldn't say I particularly like her stubbornness; it is only one facet of her character, after all. I think she's wrong about blood magic and the mirror, but after playing through the rivalry I understand her motivation and find her to be sincere in her good intentions. At the end of the day her "dumb" actions don't make me like her any less.

Not to say anyone's wrong if Merrill's actions make one dislike her; Anders' actions in Act Three certainly stirred up a dislike in me that no amount of understanding or good intentions can erase.

I'm going by what i read, mostly; someone who went the rivalry route with Merrill said she got kicked out from the house few times. Since it wasn't someone i know to usually exaggerate in such manner i took that as likely true (though didn't confirm it myself hence the question mark in the initial reply)

I disagree.  The fact that I thought what she was doing was unwise got me more invested in her character, not less.   It made me care more about the outcome.  And I can respect her standing up for what she believes in.

If I hadn't really liked her personality and character to begin with I might not have cared though, I don't know.

While her romance was....okay.......I agree. Though out of the options given for both genders, she's still the best one....

The characters are great but....way too much crazy for my Hawke to romance :?

I was only thinking of the occasion when you're actually left outside the house - after checking, there is actually another conversation where she tells you to go before that one.

I don't think she apologises after that one though
