Today I tried to get my sister into Mass Effect by purchasing ME2 for her system of choice, the PS3. However, the sales clerk warned me that my sister may not be able to access the Cerberus Network due to Bioware's problems with the PSN, and therefore she would be unable to download content like Zaeed and the Genesis comic.

Is this true? I play all of my games on the PC, so I know nothing about ME2's problems on the PS3. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated!

The entire Playstation Network is down, it's been in the news. There's currently no way to get DLC for any game, not just ME2.

That includes even just signing up for the Cerberus Network? Weak!

Though, I'm guessing that, even if my sister could sign up for the Cerberus Network, she wouldn't be able to download "free" content like Zaeed and the Genesis comic, because of the issues with PSN? That makes sense. I just didn't know, because I'm not a PS3 user. Again, I was just trying to get my sister into the series. Oh well!

YAY! That's great to know. I guess I'll keep an eye on it and get her ME2 as soon as the Cerberus Network goes live. Thank you so much for the info!

yeah...bought ME2 yesterday and after installing/pathing it I just shelved it for when the PSN will be back online...sad.

Same here. I just finished second book in ME universe and bought brand new ME2 for PS3 and now i am force to wait in order to play ME2 [i do NOT want to play with choices being made automatically instead with genesis ].

One of my friends is in the same boat.    He really wants to play Arrival, but can't, so I've been telling him to be careful on the ME3 spoilers until he can (I give him bits of info that I know aren't spoilers for the time being...he likes it, since he doesn't have to worry about Arrival spoilers ).  It's a shame we're not closer (in terms of location), because I'd let him come over and play it on mine (I've got a Shep who hasn't done Arrival yet and this is post-SM).

I have heard that the store might be back up next Tuesday.  Otherwise, last I knew, their goal was to have it up by May 31st, so might have to wait longer if they don't get it up next week.

yep. just got a copy of ME2 for PS3 ...depressing...can't download anything....is it even worth buying any games until this problem is fixed? we can't get the full pleasure...I purchased LA Noire and could not get any of my reserve copy goodies to download ...I took it back.  Full refund...I was lucky....it was opened and everything.....I didn't really like it anyway...not for sixty bucks!!  ME2 was next door for the same amount...I didn't even put the refund in my pocket....Cha Ching!!! Now I am happy...even tho I have to figure out how to get the most out of gameplay....not hardcore...YET

I need PS3 friends...I like to play games that most hardcores play...I have no clue how to get people to invite me sometimes into their gameplay...so I never really get to enjoy the online part of the game as much...unless I am going solo...if you want to check me out send me a PS3 message...no jokes please

i ran into this same problem and i would advise you contact the number below the code for creb network, EA was extremely nice and gave me a copy of DA2 for computer and 20$ off ea store products for the hassle of not being able to claim my code for the ps3 ME2

sure ok it suxs u cant try the new stuff on ps3 yet but free stuff is great. Just be nice and explain the situation.

Hey having the same problem except I have no phone number to contact in regards to Ea's customer support. Under my code it simply explains how I should contact their support team although without a method of doing so.

No such luck. Now they're back to saying it'll be up by the end of the month. I had the same problem with the DA:O Ultimate Edition. It claimed all the DLC was on the Blu-Ray, so I figured I wouldn't need to log onto the PSN to play with Shale and use the expansions, but I was wrong. Oddly, as of the PSN partial restoration I am able to access the DLC for that game, but not this one. I'm not going to play with the default decisions either, so the game will collect dust for another week or two, I guess. BioWare should have just put it on the disc, but I guess they're too concerned with squeezing out more revenue from used games.  Wish I could return this to pick up another game to play over the holiday weekend.

You know a leaked memo from Sony to a publisher is not Sony announcing a date.  Other than them saying they expect to have everything working before the end of the month. they have never specified a date.   Considering they say psn is going down for maintance the 31st. It will probally be up when maintance is over.
