True. He killed Ser-Pounce-a-lot, in order to ****** off Anders. He then sent him a cassette, repeatedly whispering "your cat died like a b!tch, your cat died like a  b!tch, your cat died like a b!tch! That was enough to drive him into joining the al-Queda.

What funds did they have to press forward after Kirkwall?

What funds did they have to get to kirkwall?

The fund was name Flemeth, believe lol But seriously,  they could have use all of their money on the way to Kirkwall, other wise they wouldn't have to work for the money to get into the city at the beginning.

I think the point that my not-so-evil twin brings up is that they fled Lothering with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Flemeth didn't get them all the way to Kirkwall.

IIRC, she takes them to Gwaren, where they take a ship headed towards Kirkwall. So, if they had no money, how'd they get the funds for the ship ride to Kirkwall?

I'm willing to sweep that under the rug as "they worked in Gwaren to earn the ride" or "Aveline (and Wesley) had money" or something, but it could be a minor plot hole since it's left unexplained. Not a big deal, especially in the greater narrative. But it is something that picks at you, if you want to overanalyse each part of the story for logical consistency.

All praise Dog!!! Almighty Dog!!! We are not worthy of your presence!!!

And for those of us with dyslexia, it's dog not God. ROFL!  Really Dog and his convos in the hovel and later at the mansion were funny. And hurtfully insightful! Varric plays Diamond Back with Dog and Hawke never got invited!  *cries*:crying::lol:

Varric plays diamondback with all the local Mabari. He's training them for the upcoming Kirkwall Tear the Veil Diamondback Competition.

Ironically, it's taking place in the City Guard's barracks.

And they should care...why? They don't even give a sh!t that ninjas are swooping down upon Hawke(Swooping. Is. Bad...) I doubt they'd care that some dogs are taking a dump all over their boots.

Out of all the cities in the Thedas land, Hawke and his/her family HAD choose Kirkwall. the city of chains and center of templay power in the East.

Couldn't theyhave gone Orlais, Nevarra, or even the Tevinter Imperium where magic is legal?

Location is one thing. Kirkwall was close enough that they wouldn't have to break themselves five times over to make the trip. Takes monies to travel, and their mother's no adventurer. When they get to Kirkwall and the possibility of going to another city comes up in the dialogue, it gets shot down for just that reason.

Apart from its location, they did have family there, and at least two of those locations you mentioned would be a bad idea. I doubt Orlesians would be overly happy about Ferelden refugees (and I doubt Fereldens would be happy about running to Orlais), and Tevinter isn't a particularly good place for a mage who isn't willing to take a ruthless route in their hunt for a fortune.

gambling is illegal in Kirkwall I believe.

Then again so are most things. But I guess that's the irony of it.

And i'm pretty sure 70% of Kirkwall's population are alley-way thugs. Again, why should they giva crap about something so minor as gambling, if they don't even care about performing their sworn duty.

the irony is that it's taking place there. If you're going to do something illegal, people generally do that somewhere away from the guard. That's the irony.

Also the guard are participating. Why do you think Donnic went to Fenris' to gamble?

Now, would we set it up so that an NPC provides the impetus for the climax again?

That's not a problem really. Most plots in games are started because an NPC did something, usually its the villain but it can be a hero as well.

Personally, I think the whole "lack of choice in the finale" is entirely because no matter what happens you still fight the same people and get the exact same finale. Not because a character acted out in an in-character move and set the finale in motion.

Siding with the Templars or the Mages really has no affect on anything. Doing certain side quests has no affect. Kicking certain characters out of your reindeer games has no affect. Nothing changes regardless. Not because an NPC does something, but entirely because no difference in outcomes!

I could go into more detail but cursed No Spoilers thread...

Also note that I know you're not a son, but there is no "Daughter, I am disappoint". At least none that I'm aware of.
