Have you read the whole thread, particularly the post about the dates? ME2 came out Jan 26th 2010 and the first ep of Doctor Who to use "I Am The Doctor" aired only five weeks later. Plus a quick look round the internet will tell you that it was the first episode in that season, episodes using that piece were shot months before airing, and the piece of music was written as a cue for the 11th Doctor, a change that everyone knew was going to happen more than a year earlier. The chances of Gold having heard the ME2 piece before he wrote "I Am The Doctor" are as close to zero as it gets.

Actually, Mass Effect 2 was released on January 18th. So. Add another week to that.

Thats always funny. This has happened to me before... I think it was NCIS. They totally stole a music track from a game. Can't remember what they used, but somethings telling me the Galaxy Map song from Mass Effect. Have to start watching again that way I can find which episode it was.

I thought it was just me who thought they sounded the same!! The music is VERY similar. It might be because of the unusual 7/8 time signature of them both.
