Also since you're at the end of that act, it's much easier to change it next act. But I'd suggest taking every aggressive option you're willing to take.

And it will be doneI actually loathe the Arishok more than Petrice, and was dismayed last time that I couldn't side with her. Thanks!

One of the most interesting choices I made for my main Hawke was keeping Petrice alive. With the aggressive personality as the prerequisite for gaining the persuade for Varnell in the first place, my Hawke was basically saving someone as crazy as she was. Though the only other thing common between this Hawke and Petrice was hating the Qunari. (I love yelling at Petrice after helping her kill the Qunari.)
This is how I played it on my last play through. She has some interesting dialogue in Act 3 if you let her live, something along the lines of continued support in the future, that made me think I might see her again, but if she continued to stay in the Chantry then I guess she's toast now. *shrugs*

This is true.

And if Petrice wasn't in the Chantry when it blew, I want to see her in another DA game to give her a medal. I'll give it to her corpse if she ends up like the Sophia Dryden abomination cameo.

Yeah, I knew. And it disgusts me. Not just because Petrice is revolting and why would I ever side with her, but what the heck is choice doing in my DA2?
I know, right?! Suddenly it's not DA2 anymore! OMGWTF?!
Actually, I keep coming across random bits of game narrative that people have discovered entirely by accident. They're always minor and of course have zero effect on the overall plot, but they're there, and as much as I don't think any game should spell things out, they shouldn't be buried so well that players can go through several playthroughs without having any clue that they're even possible. Added up, these minor details can make a difference in both Hawke's perception in-game, and the player's while meta-gaming. (Ex: conversing with various NPCs can reveal a greater depth to the mage/templar conflict, and visiting Merrill's clan after Wayward Son but before Night Terrors can show the templars harrassing the Dalish).
