Though what I saw in his first response I really don't want to see.

VS didnt even take the time to LISTEN to Shep. their mind was made up...and nothing was gonna change that. Hell...Shep aint working FOR them. he was working WITH them. And the Non-Humans and several of the humans werent working for Cerberus...they were working for SHEP!
when everyone else left the alliance because they did not approve of the alliance peeing all over Shep's memories...VS was the only that stayed. They didnt care bout Shep. Being with Shep was just another assignment. even worse if they were LI.
nah..nah.... only way i would like them in ME3 is if Bioware 1) made them bad guys 2) made for extremely uncomfortable conversations.

Please stick to your whining about how the VS is a spectre, otherwise feel free to change your name to ExtremeTwo and go off on them every time you see a thread about the VS.
This a thread on how they escaped the collector swarms, the most obvious reason is as leonia said "plot armor".

It's a stasis field, as you learn by examining the frozen colonist. For instance, Mordin will say:
"Victim appears conscious. Fully aware. Trapped in stasis. Fascinating."
Other squaddies have similar comments. Also, you can see the statis field.
Pretty simple really:
No Collectors, no swarms.
No swarms, no fields.
No fields, no longer frozen.
If they are using a neurotoxin too, then it's one with a short half-life in the body and only used to initially slow a person down/immobilize them until enough seekers are present to generate the field.
Eh it was mostly speculation on my part. I do a lot of that. Mostly because nothing present in game really gives you an explanation for how they are able to create and maintain that many stasis fields. I prefered to think of it as a form of neuropoison that *caused* stasis.
But just because they never offered any real explanation for the stasis fields, doesn't mean collector technology wasn't capable of it, just that we weren't let in on their tech.

Wish that edit had popped up earlier so you could have read it.
In any case, different people respond to different situations differently. Deal with it.
VS didnt even take the time to LISTEN to Shep. their mind was made up...and nothing was gonna change that. Hell...Shep aint working FOR them. he was working WITH them. And the Non-Humans and several of the humans werent working for Cerberus...they were working for SHEP!
Reports sent in secret to the Alliance tell a different story:
"Cerberus is behind the missing colonies."
"Shepard is alive."
"Shepard is working for Cerberus."
That was all information, false for the most part true but still, sent to the Alliance and the VS in particular that painted an unpleasant image.
when everyone else left the alliance because they did not approve of the alliance peeing all over Shep's memories...VS was the only that stayed. They didnt care bout Shep. Being with Shep was just another assignment. even worse if they were LI.
Of course it's not like Ashley isn't sworn to stay with the Alliance and feels obligated to do so because the Alliance has been part of her family for generations and hence feels a strong connection to the Alliance.
Nah, it's totally because she's against Shepard.
Besides, while they are staying with the Alliance, they also take orders from Anderson. Someone who acknowledges the existence of the Reapers and is trying to get people to do something about it, as difficult as that is. Hell, talk to Anderson after Horizon he'll say that Ashley/Kaidan have actually tried to find evidence to show to the Council to prove the Reapers exist and have just so far been unsuccessful.
Don't you see? By staying with the Alliance they aren't against Shepard. They are the only ones still fighting for the lost cause to try to prove the existence of the Reapers to the Council, the only ones who did. Everyone else just gave up, leaving them alone to pick up the pieces.
nah..nah.... only way i would like them in ME3 is if Bioware 1) made them bad guysp
If this ever happens and I find out that it's due to your whinging I will dedicate the rest of my existence to hunting you down so you can die by the inches.
2) made for extremely uncomfortable conversations.

I'd take the dossiers from the Illusive Man, have Jacob & Miranda thrown in prison and re-join the Alliance if they only asked but they did not. Rather they dropped me like a bad habit, forgot about all the good I did and even abandoned by former crew because they were afraid they would start screaming, "REAPERS!" every five minutes
For Mass Effect 3, Sole Survivor Colonist Scott Shepard... is going FREELANCE with the Shadow Broker at his side.

What's the matter Kaidan/Ashley? Why don't you call Uncle Hackett & make the big bad Collectors go away?
Did you forget about the Reapers? Vigil? My god TALI joined up despite the fact that she was a Jew to the Cerberus ****'s
But how is the VS supposed to know that the game is railroading you into working with Cerberus? For that matter, they never saw your body. For all they know, you were never dead. You were with Cerberus for 2 years.
Just saying, it looks pretty bad.
Plus those colonies are not part of the alliance. That's why the colonists went there: to get out from under the alliance's thumb by going to the Terminus systems. A significant alliance or council prescence in these systems would cause a galactic war, by the way.
If anyone is a jerk, it's the colonists. I'll save them anyway, but neither I nor the alliance owe it to them.

Yeah, I think the freezing effect only lasts as long as the ship is groundside. That said, Bioware should have made them seem a little more out of breath.
And to the haters: So you expect your friend/lover to approve of you once you start working for a domestic terrorist organisation? I call BS on you. Ashley/Kaidan showed loyalty to the uniform, and to the cause. They have earned my trust to fight with me against the Reapers, as I know they will not allow personal **** to get in the way of doing their job.

Tali has hero-worshiped Shepard since she first met him, she admits as much. Garrus is on his own, fighting for survival. It's completely understandable that both of them would join up with Shepard, with or without Cerberus.
Ashley is a born and bred soldier, Shepard trained her even more after he recruited her. She either sees first hand what Cerberus is capable of, or reads the reports. A senior Alliance officer is murdered. Alliance soldiers are butchered on Cerberus' orders. Shepard then turns up working for them. If someone you respected and admired turned up working for Al Qaeda, you'd be understandably doubtful of their motivations.
Oh and not to mention YOU HAVE BEEN FREAKING DEAD! UNLESS YOU ARE A DEITY, THIS IS MEANT TO BE IMPOSSIBLE!
The Alliance certainly hasn't been sitting on its arse, if that's what you're claiming. Hackett tells you in Arrival, if you do it before the Collector Base, that he's been sending out battle groups to engage the Collectors and protect human colonies, but there aren't enough ships to protect all of them. Even so, he's clearly doing something because he's sending top level operatives like the VS out to investigate and provide some level of protection for the colonies, hence the GARDIAN turrets.
Regardless of how you feel about them, Kaidan and Ashley are Tier One special forces operatives, highly trained, and sure as heck are motivated. They WILL be needed to fight the Reapers, and you'll need them on the crew.

True, the colonists are no better. But even though both in Real Life and in the game I have a serious bone to pick with humanity I'm not going to go, "How dare they colonize the Terminus. Screw those guys!"
How would they not know Shepard was dead? THEY SAW HIM GO AFTER JOKER! JOKER SAW SHEPARD DIE!
What did he say, "Nah! He had a jetpack and flew away. Suddenly a different ship picked him up and I fainted"
You die if you are blown into space. Finding the body doesn't matter.
Infact, do Liara, Garrus, Ahsley/Kaidan, Tali, Wrex never EVER speak to each other? That's ridiculous!
It only makes sense in the PS3 version because only Liara is present on the ship but Joker would have told them

Damn those Mass effect fields. Sneaky little buggers.
As for the ongoing conversation about the VS. The hatred kinda surprises me. There was a certain lack of choices in regard to options to explain yourself, but they had every right to question both your intentions and your current employer.
To airlock them for voicing an opinion after what they've seen Cerberus do? Not exactly a rational answer, and would simply be doing the same thing your VS did to you by not letting you explain yourself.

I'm entirely hoping they put more than a one liner "Sorry about that mess" into ME3, and largely waiting to see if they feel legitmately guilty about it before deciding if they'll play a part in my party.

That sounds acceptable to me. A one conversation fix would be terrible. Unless they did something epic, like breaking you out of the courtroom.
I heard that in DA2, you can make one or two of your squadmates Grey Wardens. Would like to see something like that in ME3, particularly with Ash and Garrus.

I did say I would save them anyway, but they are kinda being boneheads. For example, I disagree with my country a lot, but I just can't imagine the level of douchebaggery it would take for me to up and renounce citizenship, buy a boat, sail to pirate waters and then expect my former country to defend me militarily if I get attacked. Be nice if they did, and after a certain amount of people did that, it would be the right thing for my country to do regardless of my boneheadedness. But I would not in a million years expect it like it's my right or anything, ya know?
IIRC, Joker saw Shepard fly off into space, but not actually die. I'm sure everyone thought Shep was dead, but if someone you knew should be dead and suddenly, you see them again two years later...chances are, you'll doubt the second-hand account saying they're dead rather than think "OMG, S/he has risen from the grave miraculously!"
Even the ridiculous explanation of "Shep faked dying and is undercover with Cerberus for the last two years" will sound more plausible than a resurrection when coupled with the fact that you ARE working with Cerberus.
