If anything I respect Ash/Kaiden and Hackett and Anderson for sticking to their guns and trying to get proof to get the Council/Alliance moving on the Reaper problem instead of dropping everything and signing up the murderous terrorist organization once things became hard.

It's easy to be the good guy when things are on your side, but it takes real resolve to stick to it when the system is fighting you.

It's not a matter of having Ash/Kaiden drop everything and join up with Shep, but that they instantly call you a traitor and refuse to listen even if Garrus is in the party and they accuse Garrus of being in Cerberus (seriously here Ash?). Also Shep's idiot dialogue didn't help that along any either, you'd think her brain was still frozen with the dialogue she was giving.

Ash/Kaiden refusing to join is fine, 1 - No I can't just leave my responsibilities with the Alliance even for you, 2 - Maybe you aren't part of it, but you're still working with Cerberus even if it's because of the colony abductions, 3 - idk, ran out of ideas off the top of my head.

But the point is that the entire VS/Shep scene was very poorly written on both sides (at least in my opinion). Them refusing to even listen at all after the events prior to seeing you is just stupid.

so i must get you wrong

yeah..

I usually let Kaidan die because he finally man-upped. I usually pick Liara as my love interest.
Man-upped in the sense that he grew a pair and is gonna take the big one for the team. Dude is tough and powerful with his biotics...though his degree of masculinity has been debated. He, for me, was in a better position. The bomb was priority...and Shep wasnt about to risk it...especially if she knew Kaidan was capable and willing to do what he had to do.  usually the main reason i send him with the STG.  i kinda perferred the cut scene with ashley rushing back to the normandy.

Yeah, I think the freezing effect only lasts as long as the ship is groundside. That said, Bioware should have made them seem a little more out of breath.

And to the haters: So you expect your friend/lover to approve of you once you start working for a domestic terrorist organisation? I call BS on you. Ashley/Kaidan showed loyalty to the uniform, and to the cause. They have earned my trust to fight with me against the Reapers, as I know they will not allow personal **** to get in the way of doing their job.

what they did was show loayity to a bunch of clowns who do not even believe in the reapers or collectors. I played ME 2 before ME 1 so in all  honesty ashley and kaiden mean nothing to my Shepard . But I know this if they did that in real life I would have cussed both of them out . No one chews my ass out unless there is a logical reason as to why

Come to think of it, I do remember one of my party members commenting that the people are in some kind of stasis field.

It seems fair to assume the stasis field is only effective while the collector ship is groundside.

As for why Ash/Kaidan are not taken by the collectors? Rule of drama. Perhaps they are unsuitable for being liquified or something. Hey, considering that the collectors only took interesting specimens for study before ME2, might it be presumed that only genetically interesting humans are taken for liquification? Sort of like feeding the baby-reaper healthy food so it grows healthy/strong.

There was a debate on that a few days ago, with the winning theory being:

1 - VS has armour and kinetic barriers.
2 - The drones incapacitate you with a type of "poison".
3 - VS gets stung, but the armour and medigel application lessens the dosage.
4 - Stasis effect wears off faster for VS, VS activates kinetic barriers so drones can't sting.

Alternatively, the VS activates kinetic barriers just as they are stung by a drone.

That would explain the VS but what about the unarmored guy who was up and about before Ash/Kaidan? At least from our perspective.

A lot of facts to explain their behaviour are already posted. And on Horizon the work for Anderson, who is very aware of the reaper.
In ME1 both are willing to sacrifice their lifes to fullfill the mission (Virmire). Kaidan did to my MShep. Ans Ash (LI) is 100% loyal to Shep. Without any question she would give her life for him.

Delan? Pretty sure they covered that when you find him. Gonna paraphrase here:

"I got scared and went to find my mummy, but all I found was this warehouse so I locked myself in."

That's pretty much it.

To address the VS's attitude, "Pain is the proof of love. You cannot be hurt unless you care."

Quoted from a very, very wise being.

That´s a weak point to me. The collectors are well informed about Shep and the (former) Crew. I think the would regocnize the VS and give him/her priority. But... as you say rule of drama...

OK, I get that the guy is an unlikable ass, but what the hell else was someone like him supposed to do?  He wasn't armed or armored.  He wasn't a soldier.  He was, as he says, a mechanic.

The collectors are kind of...brainless though, if I understood Mordin right.

Rule of drama needs to be reigned in occasionally I think, but having the VS get kidnapped is a different application of rule of drama and needs to be handled even more delicately than the Horizon confrontation should have been handled because it risks either Distressed Damsel syndrome or turning the VS's combat abilities into just informed abilities.

All well and good, except we see them freeze in the cutscene. Their armor wasn't a factor.

Didn't say he should have stuck around or anything. I paraphrased like that just for the heck of it. I don't really have a positive or negative opinion on the guy, considering he berrates Shepard, yet it's understandable since the majority of his friends and family got kidnapped.

Oh, OK.  It's just that, like with the VS, people have a tendency to demonize him because he wasn't all "ZOMG. It's Commander Shepard!"  I mean, I think he's kind of a ****** myself, but I've never understood people getting so pissed at him because he didn't try to fight the Collectors.

Just a note:

Using the cain on Delan in his hidey-hole is hilarious. I don't really dislike him that much, but still.

(Grenade launcher is also good. Blackstorm is meant to be funny, but I don't have it so I'm not sure.

He was locked inside a bunker the entire time, the swarms never got to him.

I'm fairly sure Bunker guy stayed in the bunker the rest of the misson. I'm talking about the NPC who ****es at you immediately before the VS comes out to talk. Are they the same guy? I asked this and was never answered on that count.

Sometimes uninportant npcs blur together.

All right. Thank you for answering. I didn't recognize him as being the same person. In my defense, npcs tend toward the generic side?

Kinetic barriers only work for fast moving objects such as a bullet. That's why you can melee a person with barriers or Saren killed Nihlus at point blank.  (Watch the Bring down the Sky mission or Ferros when Shepard is shot but the rounds deflect... too far away from him).   The books do an excellent job describing this.        So the swarms would not have been effected by Kinetic barriers.        I don't know how the VS survived or wasn't taken. Everyone else beside him was.

Yes, I know.  But it's easier to just say "Um, people? We saw them freeze."

That they froze shouldn't be in dispute. How they unfroze offscreen is the issue.
