If anything I respect Ash/Kaiden and Hackett and Anderson for sticking to their guns and trying to get proof to get the Council/Alliance moving on the Reaper problem instead of dropping everything and signing up the murderous terrorist organization once things became hard.
It's easy to be the good guy when things are on your side, but it takes real resolve to stick to it when the system is fighting you.
It's not a matter of having Ash/Kaiden drop everything and join up with Shep, but that they instantly call you a traitor and refuse to listen even if Garrus is in the party and they accuse Garrus of being in Cerberus (seriously here Ash?). Also Shep's idiot dialogue didn't help that along any either, you'd think her brain was still frozen with the dialogue she was giving.
Ash/Kaiden refusing to join is fine, 1 - No I can't just leave my responsibilities with the Alliance even for you, 2 - Maybe you aren't part of it, but you're still working with Cerberus even if it's because of the colony abductions, 3 - idk, ran out of ideas off the top of my head.
But the point is that the entire VS/Shep scene was very poorly written on both sides (at least in my opinion). Them refusing to even listen at all after the events prior to seeing you is just stupid.
