Anyone else worried about music continuity with the departure of Jack Wall?

A lot of people seem to have confidence in Clint Mansell, but I too worry. It makes me concerned that the soundtrack will sound off and be even more instrumental and less sci-fi synth.
I am sure Mansell is fine...but the 1st two games are Wall so...that is my only concern.

Clint Mansell is a professional, the only question is if he can blend in the tones created by Jack Wall.

Stardusk78, if you'd like an example of a Clint Mansell score that's "epic and engrossing," but, which also has a strong emotional impact, I suggest you watch Aronofsky's "The Fountain" - not listen, but actually watch - otherwise you won't have any idea of how the score fits. It's basically an epic love story intertwined with life and death. Which happens to span space. Having said that, whether we'll get anything with this kind of emotional power in ME3 really depends on ME3's story - the Fountain was, at its core, a very emotional film. Also, it was very unconventional source material to work with. Which I think that says a lot about Mansell - he obviously has no problem in understanding and extracting the emotional core of a story, regardless of how abstract the whole thing is.

Dark, cool and smexy, just awesome. It was not as much emotionally engaging as say Assassin's creed II but sometimes in your life you want to be a bad ass and MEII is just for that.

Personally, I prefer orchestras to synths, even in sci-fi works, and I couldn't care less about "music continuity" (what does that even mean?).
Plus Clint Mansell is awesome.
This.

I'm a huge Jack Wall / Wall of Sound fan, but I think Mansell will do just fine with ME3. Sure, he's got some big shoes to fill but it's Clint Mansell. Do yourself a favor, go listen to his stuff, not just the moody / sad stuff, but things like the Sahara soundtrack or Smokin' Aces soundtrack. He's a master at creating and capturing the mood in his music and I'm beyond stoked to hear what he's going to do with ME3.
Seriously. Clint Mansell.

In ME1 I remember all different theme from the game (some for less good reason). The only two I remember from ME2 (but they were epic) is the one where Joker show you the Normandy SR2 and the Suicidal Mission. And LoTSB theme if we count DLC.
It's still BioWare who decide what kind of music they want to put. Mansell can't just decide to put that kind of sound if the project lead don't want it...

I actually only notice the soundtrack when it's really bad. So as long as it's not bad, it'll probably fly right over my head.

Anyway ME2 soundtrack was way more shallow than ME1.

What about Samara's theme? That was well done, if not a hint of mysticism in it.
And the Collector Ship theme... many have said that it's a twisted version of Vigil's.

I felt ME2 didn't utilise the Mass Effect Theme enough, and now the composer has changed, I just hope he takes a look back at what went before and uses the familiar tune. I've seen too many movie sequels that have great music, but did away with the themes of their predecessors.

You guys obviously never heard mansell's sci fi pieces from certain movies. Check out "Moon"
Yes I've heard his sci-fi scores, and yes he is a great composer, but I've found his scores to be more on the dramatic, moody, and even slightly on the horror side. I just worry that his sound may not blend well with the styling of Mass Effect. But maybe i'm just being paronoid.

I have to admit, I am a bit worried, for me ME+ is so great in part because of the epic, engrossing music. Losing Sir Wall might make ME3 music-wise at least...strange.

That's my concern. I'm not that familiar with Mansell's work, but given how distinctive ME's music has been so far, I'm a little worried that ME3's score will miss the mark.
