I'm not worried one bit after listening to Clint's music.

Clint Mansell spins sound into gold. The music for ME3 is going to be awesome.

I agree with you.  After doing a weekend long Clint Mansell soundtrack marathon, ME3 is in good hands.  It's thought provoking music that evokes really deep seated emotions.  MEs is dark and emotional and awe inspiring that's why he's a good fit for it. ^_^

Yes, I am but it's not going to stop me buying the game to be honest. As long as the main themes return that's most important.

Nope.

Jack Wall wasn't involved with Overlord or Lair of the Shadowbroker either, and most people probably didn't notice. *That* and LotSB in particular had one of the best tracks in the series so far, IMO.

Jack Wall isn't the only talented composer out there, and he isn't the only capable of producing a good soundtrack for Mass Effect 3.

I love the work Jack Wall did on Mass Effect but I also have confidence in Clint Mansell. Mansell also has a Sci Fi background with the movie Moon. This won't be his first Sci Fi soundtrack. I'm also sure that some of the work Jack Wall already did will be returning. I'd bet on the main Mass Effect theme and the galaxy map track returning, for example.

DA2 hate doesn't make any sense in this thread, even in context.

I didn't really like the music in ME1, the elevator and from memory the Mako music really irritated me. It's hard to believe 1 and 2 were from the same person.

A lot of people seem to have confidence in Clint Mansell, but I too worry. It makes me concerned that the soundtrack will sound off and be even more instrumental and less sci-fi synth.

I am sure Mansell is fine...but the 1st two games are Wall so...that is my only concern.

Actually ME1's sound track is Jack Wall Sam Hulick (both contributed equally really), and Richard Jaques (contributed to 7/37 of the pieces on the ME1 OST) while ME2 is almost all Jack Wall with some Sam Hulick. Also the Kasumi, Overlord, LotSB music was done by other people (Christopher Lenertz for LotSB and Overlord and a couple people I can't remember for Kasumi). So people thinking that Clint Mansll will or might mess it up should realize a lot of ME's muisc has been done by the cooperation of several different composers to begin with.

also when people talk about "ME1 was almost all electronica/synth music" are saying that mostly from playing the game itself and could be thought of that way since a lot of the atmosphere music (when you are in the wards/bars/just hanging around somewhere) is synth but there was a lot of the music that was traditional instrumental music. and most of the music was a hybrid of the two (you would have the traditional instrumental with the electronica/synth as an undertone).

and one last thing. the music of some IP (whether that IP be a game, a show or a movie) has to evolve with the evolution of the story. you can't just cut and past ME1 music into ME2 or ME3 becuase it wouldn't feel or sound right at all. the music has to keep pace with the darkening tone of the story and the synth style music can't really convery that as well as a traditional piece of instrumental music can.

I'm not worried. Mansell is as adept with synth as he is with orchestrals instrumentals, and even better at integrating both. The soundtrack to The Fountain - as several people have noted already - is the perfect example thereof. He's also very good at remixing the same few overarching themes and melodies in a given work to provide both variety and atmospheric immersion, as Jack Wall did in ME1 and ME2 and as any competent soundtrack composer does.

Skilled composers can master different styles of music. Clint Mansell might just have the right ingredients.

The score is one aspect of ME 3 I am not worried about. Both ME 1 and ME 2 music, while different from each other, were both quite good imo. I have little reason to think ME 3 won't be as good.

I think you'll find he has more then enough musical integrity then do just do a remix of one of his songs he specifically wrote for a movie about a group of people spiralling into drug addiction and destroying their lives,  and put it into a science fiction video game.

Just saying. He better not **** it up. I've already heard enough of that god-forsaken song that could fill up a city block on fan-made AMVs.

And that's Mansell's fault how?  He has zero control over how that music is used.
