Woohoo. I'm on a roll tonight clearing my desk of old paperwork. Finally uploaded Este's fixes to Rubies' bench to the Vault. This should finish up this theme. Thanks Este!
*Smacks Rolo on the wrist.* I saw you trying to sneak that pile of papers on to my desk! Just 'cause there was a slight bit of the surface of my desk showing doesn't mean you get to pile more stuff on. Harmphs!

<giving his best hurt-puppy look...>
But you were on a *roll*! So was Cestus... but he was rolling drunk <ah, boss? he heard you...>
Ah, gottagobye!
<...which isn't all that good>

This is the next theme under the honking merge microscope. Not much in the way of things to update. There is one "bug" report on the Vault page that the bed is too small, even for a halfling. That is beyond my abilities to fix. WAY beyond!
I did make new book icons for Rubies' books. Also plan on doing some loadscreens of the nifty halfling tiles Pstemarie and Zwerkules made.
Now for the naughty part...
I did find 2 portrait file length issues that I wanted to get some feedback on how to best go about fixing.
The problem:
Portraits have a 16 character file length limit. Even more fussy is the hak itself. Give a portrait a file length of OVER 16 characters (in this example the original file name is "po_ccc_sarc_short_X") and it gleefully chops off the extra letters like so:

See how all four portraits now have the SAME file name? Grrrrrr.
The Question:
What is the right way to go about fixing this that keeps our content back compatible with anyone that is using the naughty sliced and diced files? They do still work in the toolset/game or I would have caught the error when making the demo.
My idea:
Leave the naught files in place so we don't break anyone's module or PW. Add a new set of portraits named within the 16 character limit. Yeah, it pads the hak with extra STUFF that future users don't really need, but I couldn't come up with a better idea to protect people already using the content.
Any better ideas?

Um. I'm sorry to say that those badly named portraits are mine. It was the first time I'd made a portrait for a placeable.
I say leave the bad ones in (even though they likely don't work, then add a new line for name-corrected ones.

*hugs... hmmm... the leg of the large purple dragon* Actually this file wasn't the only portrait with that problem in this theme. And the other one wasn't yours. Besides, this is all about learning no? We both learned more about portraits for placeables. *nods nods*
Thanks for the feedback. I do hate bloating haks but... it is probably the right answer in this case.

You want me to rescale the beds for you or have they been fixed?

*blinks in surprise* 3d work is SO far beyond my skills, so no the bug report from the Vault has not been addressed. Is that the one you are asking about? I haven't tried actually putting a halfling down for a nap on the beds to see. Are you feeling sleepy? *grins*

Quote "There is one "bug" report on the Vault page that the bed is too small, even for a halfling. That is beyond my abilities to fix. WAY beyond!" yes that one.

*chuckles* Well then no, it hasn't been fixed. *eyes dancing* If you have time/inclination to fix it that would be great!

*content sigh* Version 3 is now live up on the Vault. Thanks for the help (okay not so much help as doing all the work!) resizing the bed, ShadowM.
Rubies' original bed on the left. ShadowM's resized bed on the right. Both are in the hak/source files.

And just to round things out, here are some custom portraits for Draygoth28's wolfies. The blue part doesn't show in game, obviously.

Updates in Version 3:
- Added shorter portraits file names for Rubies' stepladder and The Amethyst Dragon's Sarcophagus. This also updates the portrait 2da file.
- Added 4 loadscreens to match the custom tiles by Pstemarie and Zwerkules.
- Adjusted Rubies halfling bed placeable by ShadowM.
- Added portraits for Draygoth28's wolfies.

I'm working on a rural tileset that will have the halfling homes from this challenge plus the elven houses I'm making for the March custom content challenge.
