How would I go about creating new stubble textures for the head and face of a HM model.
Seeing as the stubble is a texture overlay rather then a mesh, I've been looking at custom tattoo creation tutorials for this. I hope I'm thinking in the right direction here, hence this thread.

The idea is atleast, I want to create a stubble hairstyle including stubble sideburns that fit more closely to shepards hairstyle in ME2.

What I'm wondering about is this:

What options do I have to save the files in a way that they end up in logical positions in the toolset morph selections?

Asking this seeing the current stubble options have their own private sliders in the morph editor atm, so I assume wanting to add new ones isn't as simple as for instance adding a new tattoo, as it's not the texture file you're manually selecting for the current stubble options. So is my only option to add these new stubble textures as tattoo's? Or is there a better way of doing it? Also, does this count for both the scalp as the facial texture files?

If this is the case, and I'd need to add the stubble for both areas as a tattoo, then I reckon i'll get by with the currently existing tutorials on tattoo-creation.

It could be I've missed a tutorial somewhere on this subject specificly, if so, point it out please =)
I've googled etc, but it's easy to overlook stuff if not hitting the right keywords, so yeah.
Any assistance is highly appreciated.

Also, might I get this functional and there's demand, I'd ofc be willing to make these files available to the community.

EDIT:
Figured I'd just start by trying it with the tattoo-tutorial by DarthParametric. Started with the sideburns, which work in the toolset via tattoo's now. Can't fully work positioning for them yet though without the head-texture sorted so I've left it rather rough for the moment. Functionality is atleast confirmed for now.

I managed to find the texture file for the headstubble already ingame (pn_har_stb_0t.dds), though seeing that's one texture with all three variations in it, i'm attempting to compensate and change it to have my alternate shape in just one color.
Still need to figure out what I'm supposed to do with that texture file then, to make it show up as a hairstyle in the toolset that can have it's haircolor changed etc.

EDIT2:
Atm when looking at the hairstyle in the toolset the scalp doesn't align with the face and is rather 'blocky'.
The texture itself won't properly apply, the centre of the hair reacts to hair-color changes but then edges remain blue-then black (same with the original texture).

Viewing it ingame the scalp is completely glowish white and even more horribly aligned floating somewhere near the rest of the head.

EDIT3:
Further progress. The texture is showing up as blue in the toolset (much like other custom hairmods do) The L2 and L3 textures do show haircolor and they are now transparent where they should be. So that seems to work (aside from it being annoying not seeing changes on the largest hairtexture directly).

Still, when I load it ingame I keep the weird glowy-white scalp, not properly aligned with the rest of the face nor moving with the rest of the head.
What am I missing ><

Sorry for tossing this all on here btw, doing it in the hopes of someone pointing me in the right direction, been on this issue nonstop and it's eating time obviously heh.

EDIT4:
It be sorted, got it to work. Now for the fiddling with positions =P
/salutes

Right, so what I'm doing:

Creating the shepard hair over both a scalp-texture and integrated into a custom face-texture.
Had the part of the hair overlapping the facetexture set up as a tattoo before, but the way it reacts to lighting is different that way making the border between both textures easier to spot, so switched it around.
Integrated ME2 starting tattoos into the facetexture. I might also use the facetexture that doesn't have the scars, but for now working with them.

Exchanged my original custom painted hair with the original texture files grabbed from ME2 with TexMod. Due to the wrap differences in both games, still meant quite some custom work but overall alot happier with the result.
As a result though the hair cannot be recoloured.

Custom eyebrows (not attached to the facetexture as in the original texture from ME2, but seperated and selectable as a tattoo, same tat also features his facial hair. (this way the colour + intensity can be tweaked)

Main annoyance: headshape restriction with the DA headmodel.
Noticed I can't make the face 'flat' enough nor the forehead high enough, but well, will have to make due.

Since I was using TexMod anyways I grabbed the texture files for Miranda aswell, figured I might give her a shot afterwards.
