Hello

I played DA2 first before I played DA:O So my background is from number 2...

What I wanted to know is... Say I get a side mission and click on "Make active Quest" theres no arrow pointing to where you need to go. so If I am in the wrong area of the world then it still dont tell me where to go to get to the right place. Where as in DA2 theres an arrow in the World map showing you at least where you need to go.

Is there a way of getting the arrow to tell you where to go? As I am new to the game I have no idea where anywhere is. So I dont know where to go at all to find this mission or to even start it

Any hits or tips would be appreciated

You usually get map icons that highlight where you need to go. While there's no arrow or gps system, you can usually find out what you need by either checking the map.

but what about if you are in other side of the world? do you get a arrow pointing onto a place that takes you away from that area and towards the correct area?

You shouldn't get that lost, as to accidentally wander off and get lost on the other side of Ferelden than you should be. Just stick to the areas mentioned in your quest log. If you're absolutely stuck, and your quest log or dialogue history aren't much help, just look the quest up on the wiki site via the search engine.

This talk of arrows telling you where to go reminds me of Oblivion. It was like an in-game gps system.

Well the arrow system I was talking about was the one from Dragon Age 2. It made doing a quest nice as you knew where you had to go

Normally when you are in the region/area that there exist some active quest, there are always the arrows that point you to the quest, even if you are far from the location of the quest, it is still point you to it, don't worry. If you are wondering which arrow is for which quest, just use the map and point the mouse to it, it will show you the quest associated with the arrow

no I mean i didnt get an arrow for one of the quests. I clicked on it "mark as current quest" but I go no arrows. So I assumed It was in another town. But there was no arrow at all pointing to leave the area

Which quest? Can you specify it? Some quest that doesn't have arrow at all event if you mark as current quest.

it was right at the start of the game I found somebodies will. But When I made it my quest no arrow appeared.

same for all DLC for me I will click on DLC in quest menu and any I pick I dont get an arrow

As far as I understand, at default, all the quest has been marked as "active", that means you can see their arrow when you receive a quest and not touch in the "make active quest". So let's try, don't touch the mark active quest and let's see

You won't get arrows on the world map.  You'll either know where you'll need to go (because it's obvious- go to Orzammar, go to Denerim etc.) or it's a random event or you'll have to dig a bit.  Sometimes areas will be highlighted gold on the world map, if you just got a quest related to that area.

Some quest will get arrow on the world map, some other doesn't! I agree if we get some active quest in certain area, we'll see its pointer

The quest arrows only appear when you are in the correct map location. For example lets say you are in Orzammar's commons and you get a sidequest that requires you to go and collect and item in the Aeducan thaig, The quest arrow won't appear while you are in Orzammar's commons but once you enter the Aeducan thaig the quest arrow appears.

DLC maybe, but not regular quests.  Here I have a quest in the Brecilian Forest marked as active.  You see there's no quest arrow.  In fact, this quest didn't even have a marker on the local map, though most of them do.



But yeah, OP- you need to be in the general area for a marker to show up on your local map.  Look at the quest description in your journal and it should tell you where to go.

Yeah. See unlike DA2, you actually have to read the quest entry. Can't just run around looking for arrows. Gotta do some work.
