I'm thinking about brining Isabela with me, because I plan to romance her, and I will get approval for forgiving her.  IS that a good idea?  Who else should I bring?

Everyone betrays you except Anders. Though if you bring three NPCs who betray you to the same demon, or two and Anders, then you'll only lose one of them.

Though I rather let two of them betray me to get the apology dialog later.

And actually Anders will betray you if you side with the Shade initially. (even if you kill it later)

You might not want to cut people out because they'll betray you, because there is a scene with dialogue that follows with each person that betrayed you.

Be careful if you've been building Isabella to be a killer assassin, you're a mage, someone else has already betrayed you leaving you a member short, and you're playing on "hard" or harder.

I personally like to bring Anders, simply because you get to speak directly with Justice.  In addition, Anders has specific dialogue when speaking with the Sloth Demon.  Besides that, you would probably want two people that you need friendship/rivalry points with.

Just make sure that they don't betray from the same demon. More specifically, Isabela and Aveline can only be tempted by the Desire Demon, and Merrill, Fenris, and Varric can only be tempted by the Pride Demon, so you might want to make sure that you only bring one companion for each demon.

For example, if you bring Isabela and Aveline, only one will betray you.  Likewise, if you bring Fenris and Varric, only one will betray you.  However, if you bring, say Isabela and Merrill, then both will betray you.

If you chose Izzy go purple charming dialogue path with her, its fun and friendship boosting.

Varric, Fenris and Merrill tend to go for the pride demons offer.
The Fenris one is very revealing, and I think you get to flirt with Varric in the hanged man a bit if he betrays you in the fade.

Ah hah, this is some good information. My last time in I had Isabella, Avaline, and Anders and only Isabella turned on me. Good to know how all that works. :)

You can get +rivalry for trying to take Sebastian and telling Marethari you won't kill Feynriel before entering.  Sebastian will not go into the fade because he's a "man of faith".

Why didn't Aveline betray you?

Look at what arcelonious wrote. Aveline and Isabella can be tempted by the same demon, so for me it triggered with Isabella. Why it chose her over Avaline I don't know.

Quick Guide to the Fade:

NPC Betrayal:

Anders: None (unless you entertain a deal with Sloth...doing so ends any Anders Romance)

Desire Demon: Isabella (first), then Avaline. Not Varric (Guide is wrong).
Pride Demon: Merrill (first), then Fenris (second), else Varric

Sebastian does not go into the fade.

Hmm...kool.  Do you guys think I should bring Isabela in the Fade if I plan to romance her?

I think it's  a bit strange that Sebastian doesn't go into the fade because he's a man of faith. I mean, especially for this reason he should join the party. He seems to be the most 'qualified' person to resist the demon. What does he have to fear when his faith is strong? Maybe he is afraid that it's not strong enough after all Posted Image?

I think he is afraid his 'presence' willl upset the maker. Similar to how the Tevinter magisters corrupted the golden city by entering the fade to personally examine the city, Sebastian may fear that the mere act of stepping foot in the realm may have possible ramifications for devout Andrastians who brazenly enter the fade.

More like the writers decided to cut corners since Sebastian was only a DLC character.

@ Skorpious: Interesting. I never looked at it from this point of view.

I don't see a problem here. Bringing Isabela shouldn't ruin the romance. Later on you'll get an opportunity to talk with her and she tries to apologize, so this should set things right.

I think bringing Isabela is a great idea if you're romancing her, since it provides another opportunity to shape your relationship. If you're pursuing a friendship romance, then forgiving her can be seen as a way of strengthening their relationship. If you're pursuing a rivalry romance, then not forgiving her can be seen as a way to discourage her "self-centered" behavior.

When she betrays you, pick the neutral or diplomatic options unless you want to Rivalmance Isabella....then pick the angry one.

In fact that advice goes for everyone EXCEPT Merril. Do not pick the diplomatic response with Merrill when she betrays you. Pick only the Neutral one (unless you are Rivalmancing Merrill...then suprisingly pick the diplomatic option).

Yes that was blindingly obvious dadly so I felt, Shale.. fully implemented.
A dwarf spirit housed in the rock body of a golem  that did not dream for years.
Can enter the fade in a fully integrated  companion, Sebastian not so much.

The Fade gives opportunity for friendship or rival points for anyone you take, and does not ruin your chance of have a romance, though it may steer you toward the either the friendly or rival romance.

This works for Anders as well. As long as you betray Torpor and kill him.

Anders attacks for entertaining the deal.

Kill Torpor after you've killed Anders.

Then tell Anders it as all a ruse. You should get an extra conversation about Justice.
