In the same vein, what have you done to mitigate the wife/gf/husband/bf's anger regarding the amount of time you aren't spending with them?

I volunteered to be the DD for her friend's bachelorette party.....

Bought him fifa 10, stayed quiet whilst he ignores me and plays........ this time next week it's my turn Posted Image

I believe it's called a pre-emtive strike

I told my wife to take a vacation..as long as she wanted..she wasn't pleased.

LOL seriously... I know games can be stressful on relationships, but damn man. That's just asking for it!!

Hehe in all seriousness, I am on a gaming schedule where it puts family time, wife time, and game time all in proper perspective..I just told her this game I was really excited for so to give me some leeway  (sp?) on the schedule.  She said no (jokingly).

Seeing how almost everyone who is obsessed with the game will have it next weekend, I thought it would be a great time for a public service announcement.

Make sure to do the following in any order

.......
-  clean the house
- take vacation (I know I did )

I hope that most peope will take care of these thing before the release date, as most of us will forgo most of this next week/weekend!!

HAPPY GAMING!!!!

Funny, I've been cleaning my house during the last week bearing in mind that I will  probably just not pay attention to it at all during the first days of my gaming. My vacation is near, it's only two weeks left, and my husband is aware of the forthcoming event (I mean DA:O release), so I'm fully prepared! The only thing left is to get my DDE=) Can't wait to start gaming!

In my case it's more like
- Write a goddamn speech
- Write three articles
- Write three interviews
- Shave
- Stock up on food
- Shower
- Play.

Godammit.

Start acting sick at work on Monday so the tuesday/wednesday sick days are believable.

Fella, you're a legend.
Nevermind all this dealing with families and fancy pantsy PHD bollocks. Me and you live in the real world mate. The working man's world.
Props to you marra, props.

Wish I was that lucky - but I have an 8-month-old to take care of. So I'll be playing DA an hour or two at a time.

Well for me, I have an extra week because it turns out GS won't ship my CE until the day of release.  But in that time I will be preparing my food stocks.

Great Job! I am a rpg freak and that is what I did with my hubby.. We both are gamers but he prefers shooters and such whereas I love rpg...

We didn't have the luxury to buy two pre-order copies at this time, but we have no problem in taking shifts..

LOL I love all you guys remarks!

I'll probably only be able to play in school hours - once my 16yr old gets home he will demand his turn. He's been giving me a daily countdown for the last 3 weeks. I'm seriously thinking of buying another copy so that we can both play at the same time. I will probably pull a few all nighters until I get through the first playthrough (16yr old has to go to bed, but I don't). Unfortunately I will have to stop for meal breaks as I have 2 teenage boys who will demand to be fed, but I may spend the week cooking & freezing meals so that all they are prepared for a few days.

I'm just grateful this is currently midterms week so I'll be done with exams when I get my hot little hands on the game. My homework is done, research proposals are written up... Dang it, need more to distract myself with! I don't suppose it would work if I got all of next week's sleep taken care of over the weekend? ;)

lol that might work

I've got university classes from 8 to 5 on the Tuesday release date up here in the frozen wastes of Canada, but I has clever plan.

We pick up early morning (two copies, for myself and dad), dad does the installations and the downloading and all the hard crap, and then Wednesday (coincidentally, my day off) we PLAY. big-time.

And we're loaded up on drinks, food, and other important things. And our computer room is attached to a bathroom. And we have a mini-cooler in the room too.

I don't think I have much of a life -_-

Beware of the Veggie Omelette. Last thing you need is to be running to the bathroom to puke during a pivotal cutscene.

That reminds me of a message I saw while a game screen was loading. I think it was a Bioware game. The message was something like, "remember to take a break to eat. We'd hate to lose any of our valuable customers!"

Eating etc. won't be a problem for me. I have to work all next week and can't take Tuesday off :|

Yeah, if I remember right... I think one of BG2's loading screens said.....

"While your character may not need to eat or sleep, remember that YOU DO! We don't want to lose any dedicated players"

I'm pretty much always prepared... I'll hook up my work laptop so I can order pizza online without having to alt-tab out of the game. There's also a coffee shop within walking distance, just a long enough walk to breathe some fresh air and give me a second wind.
