I have to manually run DAUpdaterSvc every time I play.

I tried to install a mod as per instructions. I suspect I should not have, since I think the different file location for Ultimate Edition causes problems. Now every time I want to play I have to manually open cmd and run daupdatersvc.
My ongoing travails with this game continue to be stupid. At least this one is partially the fault of a third party item.
Any suggestions?

A clarification: if you authorize all your DLC, log out and stay logged out, does the DLC remain authorized for the next session?
It should-- you only need to authorize DLC once... but if you log in for each gaming session, it will check again and will sometimes fail. This will hopefully be fixed in the next patch.

Sorry, I'm just... bitter about that.
Right now, if I want to play, I open the game, and the DLC is unauthorized. So I log in, and it remains unauthorized. So I close the game, run cmd as admin, run net start daupdatersvc. Then I turn on the game, log in, and it authorizes.
After that I can play. The next time I want to play I will have to do it again.
It might stay active if I don't restart my computer, but I haven't checked.

No. This has never, ever worked. Ever. In the history of the game, including before and after the DLC blackout, including 4 separate clean installations and going into cmd to manually uninstall and reinstall daupdatersvc. Never.

I understand completely. This is odd. We're troubleshooting a similar issue in this post. I'd like to compare specs to see if we can find some commonality.
If I might ask, what version of Windows do you have (example: Win 7 64-bit). Also, does your Windows user account have administrator access?
EDIT: Also, is the game on disc, or is it from a digital service like EA Download Manager or Steam.

Windows 7... 32 bit? I assume I have administrator access. I'm the only user and I can right click to run things as administrator. The game is from EA Download Manager.
Go to Control Panel > User Accounts and it should tell you.

I don't think so. Where would it be? The product name and product key section is blank. It shows DAOrigins.exe 1.04, DAOriginsLauncher.exe 1.01, and DAOriginsConfig.exe as 1.03. It shows no Uninstall Dragon Age.exe at all. The box beneath that is empty.
Okay! Now we're making progress. It appears that upon installation, there was some unreported error, and it is preventing the program from putting the game's CD key in the Windows registry. One of our users, Kloreep, has a solution. Read this post and the one following it:

If you don't feel comfortable editing your Windows Registry, you might also try doing a complete uninstall, rebooting, manually clearing out the Dragon Age folders from Program Files and My Documents (backing up your characters first)... then using a program like CCCleaner to clear out ALL registry keys related to Dragon Age, then rebooting again. With luck, the program should then install correctly.

For what its worth, I also cannot take screen shots. I've never been able to do so. This is less important to me, but still sad because, well, I like my character.
