Anyone tried playing pure Neutral for ME1?

I thought it might be interesting to give the third line of dialogue a try, since I've done four run-throughs so far and never really heard it!

I figured it might also be interesting to see how the game plays out when you've got no negotiation options.

I've done the initial Citadel missions and the only one I couldn't do without negotiation skills was Bhatia. Now I'm heading off to collect Liara.

I have to say, it's not as unsatisfying as I thought it was going to be Image IPB

Regards

Julian

I have an indifferent Shepard which comes as close ans one can get to being neutral ingame, along with self-imposed lack of intimidation or charming dialogue. And it is indeed nice. Some of the not moralty dialogue choices are great-

I thought the Parasini interview was quite refreshing actually. Lots of "no comments" and things you'd expect someone to say in that situation. I still got lambasted for it by the brass, though. Apparently she walked rings around me :D

Yeah, I did it with my Infiltrator, who also had no romance. I really like that character, just because it makes sense. He's..... detached. But he'll get the job done, he prefers to be alone, and some events left him scarred for life.

I'm pretty early into a neutral play through of my own. So far am enjoying it, as you say, more than expected :-) The paragon/renegade choices become so automatic, as they are so often presented as the "right" choice. It's nice to be forced to choose the non-persuasion options and experience new dialogue/reactions.

A better question is: what do you do when there's no middle option? Say you're Shepards make it all the way to ME2, what happens in Samara/Morinth confrontation. Or better yet what happens to Veetor?

I've tried this and it was fun! My rules were never to use the blue or red dialogue options, neither the interrupts. In cases where there is no middle option, I tended to balance out the paragon and renegade options.By doing this I got to see some scenes I hadn't seen before. For instance when waking up Grunt. When doing the paragon, Shepard manages to calm Grunt down verbally. But being "neutral" ends up with Shepard actually shooting at Grunt but of course not enough to kill him. Another example was the Feros colony. I saved the colonists, but killed Shiala (to balance the renegade and paragon). In ME2 I then discovered that the colony will actually send a human representative to Illium instead of Shiala.
