Why Merrill needs to die in DA3

No. DA2 corrupted lore on blood mages. DA3 should correct that and then there is no need to fear Merril will be possessed.
And no. I don't hate DA2 in itself. So I don't want characters to die. I only hated that this game was supposed to be the future direction of DA. I liked the characters enough. Especially Merrill who was the only decent love interest. And especially Anders who did what I couldn't. I sooo approve! I ran around talking harshly and doing my damnest, but could I do something about the Templars? Nooo.

I like Merrill, I don't really understand why almost all the blood mages in DA2 were evil, certailny it wasn't that way in DAO. Either way, Merrill is still a good person, if she's around in DA3 she should probably be joining forces with Morrigan, they both are very interested in those mirrors and all

I don't understand why people like Merril to be honest. Shes funny a little bit here and there but her obsession with fixing that mirror no matter the cost just ruins any chance of her being like able.
The mirror alone wouldn't be bad but know its relation to demons and how she even had a demon help seals the deal. If it was just affecting her than I'd be ok people can learn from her mistakes but she drags Hawke into this and it gets her whole clan killed.
If she felt any regret or sadness then she never showed because as soon as we get back to Kirkwall she's acting like nothing happened.
One of the worst characters on DA2 and my only regret is she survived the end.

There are spoilers in there.
And that's probably because you got the bug that put some of Merrill's dialog in Act III in the wrong order.
(well okay, everyone did, not specifically you-- prior to the first patch, which didn't come out for a month)

Morrigan seemed to be quite a sort of fool herself. The arrogant sort. Merrill would be the clueless sort.

I don't think Merrill is adorable, to be honest. I mean, yes, she is cute in the physical sense. Short, big eyes, accent, etc. But aside from that, I find her.. annoying. She is so obsessed with that damn mirror, and doesn't even notice it until its too late. And she doesn't notice it at all if the players' Hawke is about as bright as a pickle. I don't find innocence and immaturity very attractive.
