I saved them and that better pay off in ME3. I saved them mainly because of those 10,000 people aboard that ship. Why should they die just because of 3 people? I also saved them because I don't want the galaxy divided or disorganized. Then there's always the chance that they are doing something about the Reapers but are keeping quiet in order to avoid mass panic but that seems like wishful thinking.

DM: Valern, a horde of Reapers suddenly appears. They appear to be ready to attack. What do you do?
Valern: I disbelieve!

Good riddance. The galaxy needs leadership, real leadership. Human leadership!

I always save them.

1) 10,000 person crew  (+ the Destiny Ascension might be useful later)
2) didn't want to leave a geth fleet behind me while trying to defeat an unknown dreadnought
3) ensure political stability
4) the turian councilor is awesome!

So does it need real leadership or human leadership? You are kind of saying two things there .

Have to agree with this. I used to always ignore them to focus on Sovereign, but after seeing the turian Councilor in ME2 I've gone back to change my canon to save them. Also I used to make Anderson the human representative, but now I usually go with Udina. I think the story is much more entertaining with these two characters antagonizing Shepard.

I really hope you're joking.

Their Council made sure the galaxy was at peace and stability for over a thousand years before humanity showed up.

It was hardly stable or at peace. The quarians had been butchered and the geth allowed to run rampant. The krogan roamed the galaxy as mercenaries and thugs, the batarians retreated into isolationism and exported slavery and piracy. The turians patrolled the mass relays looking for excuses to subjugate other species.

Yeah, the Council is pretty much a threat to galactic stability

Seriously though, there is more to leadership, effective leadership, than ordering people around and I think Humans still have too Humancentric view of the galaxy (applying our own values to alien cultures) to be effective leaders without the other races on the council balancing us out. They are not ideal, but their concern for their own species are balanced out and since the Turians have client races, they are likely to look out for those races as well. My ideal solution after the Reaper War would be to give each race with an embassy representation on the council proportionate to their responsibilities in the galactic workings.

And I wonder where BW got those ideas....it wouldn't be human stories would it? Both historical and present.

....I know I certainly wouldn't want one species in control of the galaxy....each species is as guilty as the other, at least with a mixed council, the council is in more of a forced position to take other species into account.

It was the quarians' own fault, not the Council's. Same with the krogans, when the salarians kicked in with the genophage, the Council forbids slavery, which the batarians thought was their natural right, and therefore went into isolation. And the turians did what they were supposed to do. They are the assigned peacekeepers of Citadel space.

And I laugh at those who thinks humanity can take this Council's place when they can't even deal with small crimes on the Citadel. Most of which they caused.

"Nothing is the Council's fault", is that your only defense?

Also the old Council system was not inclusive. It was an old boy's club for the three member races which everyone else locked out. The human Council will be forced to take a more proactive stance to garner support.

Yeah, right. All I heard from the humans was: Every other race out there is scared of us! We haver the power!

While in reality, the turians alone are more than enough to reclaim the throne by force.

Then why haven't they? Perhaps they are just timid?

If Shepard hadn't managed to steal the Normandy in ME1, the destruction of the galaxy would've been the Council's fault.

I'm not against a Council with a representative of each species, but the current councillors have got to go.

Kept them alive in a few of my playthroughs. I really want to see their reactions when the eapers come.

Shepad: Hey Council!

Council: Yes Shepard.

Shepard: You remember that Reaper threat I warned you about?

Council: Yes, we have already dismissed that claim.

Shepard: Oh yeah? Well look out your window.

Council: OH NO, SHEPARD HELP US... SHEPARD!!!

Shepard: Joker, close this channel.

Shepard walks away with creepy smile.Posted Image

I blame ******-poor writing on that one. For a race that's used to bomb their problems away and were moments away to start a full scale war with the Alliance before the Council intervened, I really doubt they're afraid of the humans' scrawny asses.

I think you are drastically overestimating how easily the turians could win a war with humanity. A victory isn't good enough if they'll be busy rebuilding for generations. The Alliance grown a lot in the last two decades and the other races lost too much to the geth.
