Varric's ability tree includes a special upgrade called "Backlash", which is supposed to provide an 800% physical force bonus against "staggered" opponents.
When I upgraded to "Backlash", there was no mention of the 800% physical force bonus listed on the icon in the quickbar, and I noticed no benefit when using this ability against staggered opponents.
This appears to be a glitch on Bioware's part.
I'm using V1.02 for the PC.
Hopefully Bioware will fix this in the next patch.
