These were probably the worst enemies in both games due to their basically mindless nature and lack of any tactics. I hope they only make up a small percentage of overall enemies, similar to their presence in the first two games, but the fact that Bioware is going through the trouble of making a bunch of different kinds and they're going to be the Reapers' ground forces leads me to believe they'll be a lot more prominent.

What I hated was how quickly they could flank you and kill you in ME2. Never had a problem in ME1, however.

When they circle you, unless you're playing a Vanguard, it's usually over.

For me, at least.

yeah i always got caught in ME2 and then when they attack you stumble back and id try to get away countless times but fail at it horribly and die... thats why i made an adept and just threw down a singularity next to me xD they thought that they had me but they were horribly mistaken. i have a feeling that only the human husks are the mindless and unskilled ones... i saw a picture of a bunch of human husks that had no weapons and a batarian husk with a gun for an arm so they may be more dangerous similair to scions and praetarians

Turns out, if you've got Samara or Thane, their Throw ability is invaluable in beating husks since any attack that knocks them off their feet kills them immediately. Very, very useful.

Thats good news. My friends and I were just talking about how the zombie thing has played out. And Husks are basically space zombies. If they shake it up a bit that would be awesome. If the husk types paid homage to a certain game with variant types of infected I mean zombies that would be amusing. Think about it Krogun tank zombies, Asari husks that maybe whip ya and reel you in with their head tentacles, Quarian husks that spit disease at you that are like acid. Heh

I hope they're everywhere! Damn techno zombies are aweasome! I never had a problem with them, but not all are mindless abominations. The Rachni husks seem to be tuurets and the Batarians are heavy hitters with laser cannons.

I wanna see the Harvester Husks!

I was an infiltrator every time I got flanked I would use my camo and get out of there. My Widow is not really good at close range.

I look forward to the hybrids and newer husk. It doesn't make sense that only human are made into husk.

Yeah, not looking forward to it. Not looking forward to this whole increased focus on melee overall, as well as them being faster and enemies trying to close, not to mention gameplay being faster. I don't like how BioWare seem to want this to be more and more like every TPS out there and less RPG. I wish they hadn't listened to all the morons who kept harping on about wanting melee combat and the like and actually put effort into other areas.

The nature of how husks act in battle has changed quite a bit. You'll just have to see when it comes out.

Three words:

Bring it on.

EDIT: GI article confirms there will be several different kinds of husks, each serving a different function and requiring different tactics to take down.

It's not like Mass Effect had huge RPG elements to begin with.

And I'm all for the changes that forces me to not stay behind the same cover during the whole fight.

If it were just getting husks that behave like the ME2 ones and just different skins, that would be bad.
It all will depend on hhow they are implemented. The different types might indicate that there may be "smarter" husks as well. Think of Grayson in Retribution, he could even use guns. Anyway, BW said they want to broaden the variety of enemy types in ME3, so I am sure we'll get something spectacular.

I mentioned this in another thread somewhere, but husks are created by implanting reaper technology into a host. But like Saren, they don't immediately lose their ability to think independently. It slowly takes over until the host is essentially "zombified" and incapable of critical thinking tasks.

Since husks will have to be created during the war, chances are the husks you face may indeed have some sentience left since they will be freshly made and not yet have their minds completely eroded.

As always, this is speculation.

remeber the "fresh" Husks that gets out of the Dragon's Teeth in ME1 after leaving the excavation site? They acted just like any other brain dead husk. No, this isn't indoctrination and ME1's final bosss wasn't a Husk, but a "robot" controlled by Sovereign.

I'm a little scared.

While it was an absolute BLAST to mow those suckers down with a super powerful assault riffle and knock them down with melee attacks, they were a real pain in groups. Especially since I'm a corner fighter.

Playstation Magazine, May, 2011 ME3 Article

"We see one new type [husk] - the Cannibal - part batarian, part human, and part reaper. Apparently during combat, it eats other species to give it strength."
