Husks were very very easy in ME2 ( on Insanity)...

Grunt + Jack and any mission with husks becomes a breeze: when Grunt goes " I AM KROGAN!" he instakills any husk in his path... And Jack's Shockwave ( like any other biotic, but Shockwave is best against husks because it works over a very large area) instantly kills the husks if they have no armor ( for armor get a fast weapon and Incendiary Ammo/Warp Ammo/Tungsten Ammo/ Area Reave/ Incinerate, also Grunt and Jack with shotguns are very good against armor because they both have armor-neutralizing ammo powers).

With improved melee and hopefully Heightened Adrenaline Rush, I feel ready to take the Horde on.

The problem with husks in ME2 is that they weren't fun to deal with if you're not a biotic. They're lots of fun if you have shockwave or use the pull field - unstable warp combo. With the variety of new husks in ME3 I assume there will be enough ranged husks. I believe the rachni husks are ranged.

I am looking forward to the challenge but not looking forward to the challenge of the varieties of husks charging at me

I can assure you, fighting husks in ME3 every now and again will still provide more variety than fighting the same mercenaries over and over in ME2.

I don't know.  I rather enjoyed mowing them down in Adrenaline Rush mode during a Soldier run. Very satisfying to rake one with AR fire and then see it slowly fall to bits while I shoot the next one.  That and Soldiers can damage stuff by sprinting and ramming into it.  I occasionally finish 'em off that way just for the hell of it.

What I hated was how quickly they could flank you and kill you in ME2. Never had a problem in ME1, however.

Husks didn't do that in ME 1 yeah but the other enemies in ME 1were awful, enemies constantly charged at you when you were doing the mako missions in compounds and they would run behind you and be hard to kill

Bah, husks are just space zombies. Never liked them, but they are a part of the game i guess.

They are a thorn in my eye, along with pyjaks, vorcha and babyreaper.

I'm hoping that ME3's Husk's will be capable of doing more than just blindy charging at Shepard and his allies while swinging thier arms. The Cannibal Husk has a gun attached to it's arm so hopefully this is an indiactor that ME3's Husk's are smarter than thier ME1 and ME2 counterparts and that they might be capable of using different skills and tactics in combat.

And don't forget ME3 will focus more on melee battles, so fighting husks who generally use melee attacks should be a lot of fun. And if it doesn't work then singularity will do the trick:)

The way the husks attacked in ME1 was cooler than in ME2. The ME2 Husks reminded me too much of the Thorian creepers. There was nothing wrong with that, but it didn't feel particularly novel.

Husks were rubbish in ME2. ME2 was a cover shooter. Every battle was literally built around conveniently placed boxes/walls/whatever. If you weren't in cover, you were dead in seconds. This was a playable game when fighting other enemies that also took cover, shooting back as you shot at them. But throw husks into the mix - especially in levels where you're still taking cover from other enemies with guns - and that's just a cheap death. A game that relies so heavily on the concept of cover is almost entirely broken when you throw in herds of enemies that ignore cover completely, run straight up to you and beat you to death.

I realise how open I've left myself there to "stop waaaing and try not sucking at the game" responses, feel I should point out I finished it on Insanity. Still, I do feel, husks were almost game breaking. Combat was 100% centred around cover, with zero effort thrown into melee. So adding in a melee/zerg-rush enemy was utterly stupid on BioWare's part. So what do we have in ME3? More husks! Yay! Here's hoping they've learned their lesson on the implementation.

On the up side, at least we're (hopefully) ditching the galaxy's most unoriginal thugs. I mean, seriously, what're the odds that three seperate criminal organisations would all decide to a) make every one of their members wear distintive colour coded outfits, B) choose primary colours and c) match those colours to their various strengths in battle, as defined by the colours used in a human's combat armour's HUD? I mean seriously, was there a meeting? Blue Suns use lots of shielded enemies, shields are blue on Earth human's HUDs, so they colour themselves blue and pick a blue-related name? Blood Pack have extra/regenerating health, health is red, and of course human blood is red (is krogan blood?) so their theme is red? Eclipse use majorily armoured guys, armour is yellow, so they all wear yellow? Utterly silly. Hopefully the husks/indoctrinated slaves/Grayson-style enemies aren't as ridiculous.

I'm with you, OP. I never liked husks. I'm really tired of zombies, which seems to be in every media now.

Also, I dislike close quarter combats and melee attacks, and husk are meant for this. So, with all new info I prepare myself mentally to suffer through lots of close quarters fights with zombies, which doesn't bring much joy.

well it seems like they're changing the husk types up a bit.
instead of just being charging cyber zombies they're gonna have guns and stuff, at least im pretty sure.

so i think they'd change it up enough to not get repetitive.

Im actually quite excited about fighting the husks. though i do hope, (and its obvious there will be after looking at GI mag) that there will be other types of enemies too. One thing im looking for when fighting these new husks, is that dark, freaky feeling i got from playing Noveria in ME1 for the first time.  And since its been stated that ME3 is ganna be more darker than before...seems like a step in the right direction to me.

I guess you never played with Engineer.

I'm currently doing an engineer playthrough and dealing with husks isn't very fun.

O_O ........ wel actually, commititing Genocide in Arrival may have been beneficial, I mean gthink about it, If the reapers had arrived in the Batarian system they'd already have an army of those fuukers to offload on various worlds, which reminds me, rumors are circulating that we'll visit The Asari, Salarian AND Turian homeworlds, is that true?(I'm probably wrong though, I mean Thessia could easily be mistaken for Illium, Going to Pavalen would require inventing Turian females which Bioware apparently think will be Garrus+ Lipstick and I don't even KNOW where the Salarian homeworld is)
