The GI article says (Casey Hudson quoted) "You're a Spectre , but you're also an alliance marine".

Further evidence is the possible new paint job.

Those are Alliance emblems. So is the same thing that happened in ME2 going to repeat itself? Even if Cerberus wants me dead, I don't want to rejoin the Alliance OR the Spectres. I already said no to both in ME2.

Remember, this was Casey Hudson who said that, not GI.

I don't like.....

Then again, if anyone thought they could keep the "Commander" without being a part of a military, they're just fooling themselves.

Uh . . .WHY? Don't you want to work with the alliance? We/Shepard did in ME1, and he was a Spectre there too . . . what possible problem do you have with Shepard doing this? You're kind of unclear on how this is a bad thing.

The Alliance covered the Reapers and used Shepard's likeness, along with them abandoning the search for his body. All around, they pissed me off and the final "official" mission I did for Hackett, he used me to kill a slaver. I hate them, Kiadan included.

How is it that Hackett forced you to kill a slaver? As I remember you don't have to kill Darius so what are you talking about?

So many past sentences in here...

I'm more worried about what they will do in ME3, rather than what they have done.

shepard is an officer in the alliance navy. you can't say "sorry mister admiral sir I don't want to work for you anymore". it isn't a part time job or something. anyone who thought you left the alliance are dellusional, the reason for not being with the alliance in ME2 is because you are under a sort of investigation to see how you and Cerberus work out. (yes I know there was no official investigation thatnks to hackett but more of an observational investigation).

So the galaxy is falling apart, Arcturus and Earth are gone.... and they can force me? Ha.... that's a good one. If I want to leave and forget about them, I will. They aren't Cerberus, there's nothing holding them over me. I want to leave, I leave.

Actually, you can say that. What is stopping you?

There are two issues here. Shepard never recants on the Alliance, even in his most renegade playthroughs. He ****es about their inaction, but he never commits treason or dereliction of duty.

The Spectre issue is different, however. You can tell the Council to go to hell while still being in the Alliance. So yes, it would be weird if he/she were required to be a Spectre in ME3.

To make an analogy:

I think the American government is full of idiots and I don't trust it to get anything done. However, I am an American, and I am willing to play ball with the government and fly the American flag if it means I get to help and protect the people I care about.

Therefore...

I think the Alliance is run largely by idiots. However, I don't hate humanity as a whole and I won't refuse to work for or with the Alliance just because I don't like who's in charge. That emblem means more than the jerks running parliament and the navy--it means Earth. The human race. Home. It's a piece of the galaxy worth fighting for. So is the rest, but I don't see the Turian Hierarchy or Asari Republics recruiting Shepard any time soon.

I think having some of the Alliance's restrictions might even add some challenge.

In ME2 anti Cerberus Shepard had to swallow his pride for the greater good and work with them. In ME3 it seems like anti Alliance Shepard have to swallow his pride and work with them. Sometimes your own ego is your worst opponent. You just have to act like a adult even though it can hurt.

It's the ending.... so no. They have no means to force Shepard to do anything for them. They're resouces are spread thin as it is with the Reapers here, so basically, there's no way for them to pull a Cerberus. %The minute that ship leaves Sol, Im out for good.

Honestly, I don't care about Humanity. I just wanna save my own ass.

Ah, but there's a difference there.  Cerberus is a small, special-interest group; the Alliance represents humanity as a whole.  It's the difference between being an American citizen and being a memeber of an especially militant branch of the Tea Party.

When I'm working with the Alliance, it feels like I'm working to help the whole human community.

When I'm working with Cerberus, it feels like I'm a glorified janitor.

That's why I like that Shep is going with the Alliance again.

They make the same speech, but following it is a different thing. They're out to take over, human and alien alike, and survive themselves. That's what attracts me to them.

I only support Cerberus for RP purposes.

I can't agree with an organization like that.

Y'know, guys like Napoleon and Hitler tried to take over, and while they succeded for a while, eventually everbody ganged up on them and they got taken down.

Think about it.
