Then again, if anyone thought they could keep the "Commander" without being a part of a military, they're just fooling themselves.

Shep can call him/herself whatever the hell he/she likes. After killing 2 Spectres, saving the citadel, twice foilingthe plans of the Reapers, and being the first one to successfully blow up a Relay, who's gonna argue?

Besides, all sorts of civilian ships have ranks among its crew, you dont have to be in the military to hold a ranked title.

They make the same speech, but following it is a different thing. They're out to take over, human and alien alike, and survive themselves. That's what attracts me to them.

And that's what turns me off.

To each they're own. But I'll cry when shepard is sitting on a chair, drinking some wine and overlooking a dying star with TIM's head mounted on the wall.

Same here. It feels like the second they don't need you anymore, they'll kill you.
Or perhaps they do need you, and are ready to kill you for that too. Which seems to be the case in ME3.

Not to mention Cerberus is a terrorist organization, but I'm not in the mood for a Cerberus/Allaince debate. I actually forsee a different senario entirely. What if during the attack on Earth you hijack the docked Normandy and escape Earth. You work for no one and can run around to quickly pick up your team, Sanders could help you do the whole thing and the Normandybhas the Alliance colors because they claimed it. Just an idea.

It's pointless to try and take over. It's humanity against every other race in the galaxy. We'll *never* manage to subdue every single one of them, and even if we do, the odds that we can remain in power for any amount of time are very slim.

Plus Cerberus does some screwed up things that should not be considered acceptable in any society.

Oooo me likey. But the information we have seems to contradict that. With what happened in Arival this is what I see hapening. Shepard is taken to Earth to answer for his actions. THe reapers come, they reinstate Shepard with an upgraded Normandy and they send him off to get help. A scenario I also like.

In ME2 anti Cerberus Shepard had to swallow his pride for the greater good and work with them. In ME3 it seems like anti Alliance Shepard have to swalliw his pride and work with them. Sometimes your own ego is your worst opponent.

It's the ending.... so no. They have no means to force Shepard to do anything for them. They're resouces are spread thin as it is with the Reapers here, so basically, there's no way for them to pull a Cerberus. %The minute that ship leaves Sol, Im out for good.

Honestly, I don't care about Humanity. I just wanna save my own ass.

No they don't have the means to force Shepard to do anything but I don't think they have to. Because even if it may sound cool and rebellic to be the lone wolf who goes his own way and doesn't need anyone it is a fact that Shepard is only one man in a very big galaxy. Shep needs allies as we all do all the time. You got to take what you get wich always means compromising with your own agenda and opinions in some way. In this case the big and resourcefull Alliance seems like a good choice to me. Better than everyones enemy little Failberus in any case.

This is it.

1. Arcturus is lost, as the Reapers needed to have gone right past it to reach Earth.

2. They are too busy fighting in Earth to give out "resources" whanever Shepard needs them.

Basically, the Alliance is toast.

The GI article says (Casey Hudson quoted) "You're a Spectre , but you're also an alliance marine".

Further evidence is the possible new paint job.

Those are Alliance emblems. So is the same thing that happened in ME2 going to repeat itself? Even if Cerberus wants me dead, I don't want to rejoin the Alliance OR the Spectres. I already said no to both in ME2.

Remember, this was Casey Hudson who said that, not GI.

I don't like.....

"I don't want to rejoin the Alliance OR the Spectres" well shepard seems to want it... I mean really do you think Shepard could fight the Reapers working with Cerberus?

And what is it exactly that you think a tiny organization like Cerberus could offer in its place (if they weren't gunning for you that is)?

Look you can make choices, but your choices ARE limited.

Shepard as a character doesn't really lend him/herself to your freelance fantasy.d

This kind of discussion is pointless, because you can't really convince someone to care about others. Not easily, anyway.

If you only care about humans, then it makes sense to side with Cerberus.

If it weights on your conscience to dominate all other species, then you won't want to side with them.

Better to keep our opinions to ourselves to avoid unnecessary headache.

I've been planning to take out TIM and become the new Illusive Man since ME2's ending. Liara did it, I should get to too.

He doesn't have the base, he's just holding it for me.

Yeah, *I* do.

for all we know the base only contains data and even if there is more I'm not sure we could make use of a lot of it. I've heard ME3 takes place 2 months after ME2. Not a lot of time to reverse engineer the tech, though I hope they can make use of some of it.

And Cerberus is a small organization. They can't fight larger orgainzations in a straight fight. That's why they remain behind the scenes. That's also why they feed the progress into the Alliance and private markets. They don't and can't do that themselves. And if the Alliance is beaten like some claim then we need outside help to save Earth and defeat the Reapers, which is what ME3 seems to be about. No one will work with us if Shepard is with Cerberus. Leaving them is only logical.

The base might cause indocrination, too.

Plus TIM already put the base's tech to "good use" in Mass Effect: Retribution.

The results could very well be described as an epic failure.

And if you could work for anyone why would you choose Cerberus? It would be better to work with the ShadowBroker.

One of my gripes about ME2 was that we had to work with Cerberus, who I already didn't like from ME1. I am nothing but pleased with being a part of the Alliance again.

I'm very interested to see if TIM used the same tech on Kai Leng for his 'failure'  on Omega
