and I love how people are already saying Cerberus trying to kill you is a retcon already when bioware hasn't said why they want you dead (hint it has nothing to do with ME2's events, they've said you'll find out why near the begining of ME3)

Why won't they just tell us? I mean, tell people who want to be spoiled. Because I'm curious like all hell! They told too much already. Why not share the rest!

Well probably because this is exactly the reaction they want. They want you to be dying to know so you hang around and buy the game when it comes out. Also some people always complain about spoilers even when they made the decision to look at them. :?

They can play all this hide and seek sh*t they want but if the reason is not legit or logical well they will have some explaining to do . If I ever hear it was done for anti Cerberus fans then I will be angry .  I better get some answers at E3 .

This isn't a big surprise. I called something like this happening awhile ago. Maybe I even influenced Bioware? (Ego Trip Woo!) Blame me if you want.
:bandit:

Anyways I don't think you'll be working directly for the Alliance. You'll simply be working with the Alliance. Which if you really want to save Earth is something you're going to have to do. And Cerberus doesn't have actual Fleets or Armies, so their usefulness is largely at an end. I don't think anyone is going to have the audacity to try and give Shepard orders on what to do once the Reapers show up. Pretty sure it'll be Shepard calling the shots. So I'm not sure what the big deal is for some people.

Basically the Alliance will be like "ZOMG teh Reapers are real!!11 Plz save us Shepard! Here take these shiny new guns we made!"

Besides Cerberus has always been intended to be the "bad guys".

The Alliance is far from being pure sure, but the difference is the Alliance actually serves the interests of humanity. Cerberus more or less just serves one man's interests. Not really sure why anyone would support a wannabe Dictator. That's what T.I.M. is seriously. All Shepard is to T.I.M. is a popular Hero to be exploited in his rise to Galactic dominance. So why would any Shepard want to be used as tool?

Also to be frank Shepard never really left the Alliance. Never does Shepard go up to anyone and say "I quit! I hate the Alliance!". I mean for crying out loud the guy is still wearing his N7 Armor. If Shepard doesn't like being Marine why is this still their armor of choice? Obviously Shepard takes a lot of pride in being a Marine, in being an Alliance Soldier. Shepard may not be happy with what the Alliance has done, but ultimately Shepard knows they have a duty to the Alliance.

Trying to go AWOL is bad idea anyways. Since that would mean the entire Earth military would have orders to either arrest or kill you. Not real helpful if you're trying to save the Galaxy. It's in Shepard's best interests to work with them over Cerberus.

Also remember...
-The Alliance trained Shepard
-The Alliance helped Shepard become the first Human Spectre
-The Alliance has always covered for Shepard's actions in the past

So? That’s usually what marketing dose to get people into a story. You drop some vague details that you know people will want to know the answers to and then you make them wait until the game/book/movie comes out to find the answer. It’s a game, not knowing is not going to kill you.

Honestly, I don't care about Humanity. I just wanna save my own ass.

Ok, so you escape Earth, take your ship and nick off to the far reaches of the galaxy, while all the reapers are systematically destroying all life as you know it, you are getting tanked in the normandy's bar, you live out a meager existence and eventually die of either old age, or have the rotten luck of running across a reaper that shoots you with it's pew-pew lasers, game over.

Not trolling or trying to incite rage here, but assuming there's an option to do so.. your ME3 experience will be very short lived and over with in under 5 minutes.

Summary:

[Shepard enters Normandy]
Shepard: Joker, get us out of here!
Joker: Aye aye commander, next stop, Citadel!
Shepard: Citadel? The hell with that, fly us in that direction and keep going!
Joker: That direction? But.. there's nothing there, we have to warn the council!
Shepard: I'm the captain and I say I want to be as far away from anything to do with what's going on here as physically possible.
Joker: ..... aye aye commander, plotting course for middle of nowhere.

Epilogue: And as world after world eventually succumbed to the reaper invasion fleet, the normandy SR-2 continued it's existence in unknown space, with nowhere near enough crew to sustain a viable population of any species, the last remenants of sapient life lived, and died, on that ship in the years that followed.

<CRITICAL MISSION FAILURE>

Alternatively, ok, you take your ship and fly in that direction, and you keep travelling in that
direction until fuel resources run out and you are left derelict in
space, meanwhile the rest of the galaxy gets maimed by cthulu ships
because Shepard had the desire to avoid the entire setting for ME3 and
instead bury his head in the sand.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie]

I actually think we wont get pinned with anybody. The Normandy looks like that because the Alliance took it away from you hen they took you in for the trial. They tried to refit it but when the reapers attack you take it back and escape. The alliance has to deal with all the chaos on earth, I don't think you have stay with them.
Your affiliation with the coucil and the spectres is loose at best, and your goal is to unite the species against the reapers. I guess, just as in ME2, you act pretty independently in that capacity.
As far as Cerberus is concerned, I don't know what is going to happen. AFAIK, we don't even know for sure yet if Cerberus hunts you down in any case or if that is dependent on previous decisions (I could have missed something there though).
Add to that that now BW doesn't have to waorry anymore about bringing too many high level variables into the next game.
So yeah, I think chances are good we'll be more independent this time around.

I think it's worth pointing out that, assuming they don't stick with the idea of having Joker and EDI flying the Normandy by themselves, the crew is going to have to come from somewhere. Since you're not likely going to be getting any help from Cerberus, your crew is either going to made up of your old former Cerberus crew (which if you'd rescued them, I can understand them leaving Cerberus for Shep). This is realistically going to need the authority of a Spectre to make it happen. That, or while getting blasted for being a badass in your trial and the Reaper attack happens, your old crew seize the ship in the confusion and come rescue you.

The only other source you could a crew from is the Alliance, which means affiliation with the military. Either way, I can't see any way other than affiliation with the Alliance or the Spectres (or both) for it to work.

As I say, this assumes that you need a crew. We know the Normandy only actually needs Joker and EDI, but I'm not totally keen on commanding a ghost ship for a whole game.

I'm more curious as to why Cerberus wants you dead.  What if I am a pro-cerberus human supremacist?

Im that and still they want me dead. I think they found out why the Reapers wanted Shepard....... ot TIM is indoctrinated for some convoluted stupid reason.

Shep went back to the Alliance and took the Normandy EDI and maybe the crew with him. That could be reason enough right there.

Sounds to me like Bioware is invalidating any anti-alien Shepards. Why would I give TIM the Collector base, the cerberus data, trash the Alliance and then go crawling back to them?

Not a big surpise. The ME1 dialog was really here and there. One conversation your accusing Kaidan of being a traitor for not being a human supremacist and the next your yelling at Ashley because she doesn't trust aliens.  One moement you're ****ing at your cerberus crew about them being anti-alien, the next you're telling some Asari on the Citadel about how great humans are and how the other races suck. I really wish the writters were more consistent.

Sort of. It's less to do with consistency and more to do with the fact that Renegade shep is a total idiot.

No, actually it's very easy to explain. Renegade Shepard can be best summed up as:

"Listen here. I hate the aliens on this ship, you don't get to hate the aliens. Got that?"

yeah, we'll most likely be chilling with the alliance again. but i dont have a problem with it.

especially if side missions are given to me with that smooth admiral hackett voice.

"commander shepard, we have reports that blah blah blah in the blah blah system, we'd like you to check it out"

My Shep's willing to work with the Alliance for the same reason he was willing to work with Cerberus: If you fight the Reapers — even if you're late — your enemy is my enemy.

Hackett: Shepard. We have urgent reports from-
Shepard: I don't care what it is, I'll do it. I'll do it for you.
Hackett: Uh...right, Shepard. There's something you should-
Shepard: Everytime you call with a mission my heart beats so fast.
Hackett: This is a bit...awkward.
Shepard: Your voice shows up in my dreams.
Hackett: Oh, hey, I think I found someone else to do the job. *signal dead*
Joker: Oh my god, he actually did it.

The only people in the Alliance that I respect are Anderson and Hackett. As far as I'm concerned the Alliance is just as bad as Cerebus, for all I know most of the Alliance's top brass are Cerebus supporters so the prospect of Shepard going back to the Alliance pisses me off especially seeing as how my Shepard is a Spectre, he is no longer an Alliance soldier ( Spectre's work for the Council ).

I miss being independant like in ME1.

If the alliance is still paying Shepards pension plan, you might want to rethink that.

The Alliance covered the Reapers and used Shepard's likeness, along with them abandoning the search for his body. All around, they pissed me off and the final "official" mission I did for Hackett, he used me to kill a slaver. I hate them, Kiadan included.

1. They can just say the reapers are coming and put the galexy in chaos. And they new that something(the reapers) were coming that why the made ceburus for.

2. I don't mind. Get more people in the Alliance to fight you know what.

3. You upset because they could not find a dead body?

4. Your a renegade, your good at killing things. Why one killing someone under orders hurt?
